Since the first GOP presidential debate last August, Fox News Channel seems to have lost its perception mojo with its core right-leaning audience.
By mid February, FNCs perception by Republican adults 18 and over had reached its lowest point in more than three years, and has declined by approximately 50% since January of this year.
Coinciding with Trumps rise to front-runner in the GOP presidential race, Fox News Channel has seen its perception by Republicans slide. In early August 2015, right after the first GOP debate aired on Fox News Channel,Trump went on a Twitter war with moderator Megyn Kelly, saying she bombed and calling her a lightweight reporter.
The picture hasnt been rosy in terms of the general population either: since last May, Fox News Channels perception levels with adults 18+ have uncharacteristically been drawing significantly more negative feedback than positive. At this point, both FNC and CNN are scoring at similar perception levels and they are both negative.
To measure perception of the two networks, YouGov BrandIndex used its Buzz score, which asks respondents: "If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?" A score can range from 100 to -100 with a zero score equaling a neutral position.
On January 1, 2013, Fox News Channels Buzz score with Republican adults 18 and over was 49. By the first GOP debate last August, the score had dropped to 38. The downward momentum accelerated earlier this year when Fox News Channels score dropped from 36 on January 18th to 14 on February 12th. Trump declined to participate in FNCs sanctioned GOP debate on January 28th. Fox News Channels current Buzz score is 17.
I’ve actually started watching CNN and even MSNBC to get more balanced reporting on the primaries.
That’s one of the biggest jokes going these days.Trump nailed luntz bigtime.
You see, the rest of us see a fair amount of GOPe slant to the entire network. If Fox News was meant to be a “Fair and Balanced” news-only network, we shouldn't be able to discern weighting of cumulative news stories, as one can with the (lawfully-required) lack of bias with “National Public Radio” government-funded news (in case you don't know, “NPR” has only stories that are anti-conservative values and pro-liberal values, only having positive spin on a Republican is he/she lambastes a conservative stance). We can see an obvious slant with Fox, just as clearly.
If Fox News is supposed to be “Fair and Balanced” opinion, then that, too, is not apparent.
You hysterically jump to saying FReepers don't want “Fair and Balanced” from Fox News or other media, when there is no evidence of that.
We are merely holding Fox News accountable to what they claim to be.
That is no different than what Christians are to do with fellow Christians—admonishing the evil while encouraging the good.
If Fox wants to be “non-Fair and non-Balanced,” we would all be okay with that, merely lamenting the loss of what could have been.
It appears you have not made a cogent point with your post. Try again.
——when there is no evidence of that.——
There is a constant drumbeat of anti fox self righteousness from those that won’t tolerate a smidgen of disagreement with their zealotry. it is popular to post anti fox pronouncements so there is a constant ridiculous stream
I think fox news liberal tack started about 4 years ago. I feel like it coincided when the socialists took Murdoch and his sons to the woodshed for the Sky news hacking scandal. Obama was also constantly threatening them. I think they were told to water it down or we will throw you and your family in jail.
In reaching the conclusions that many FReepers don't want "fair and balanced" I think I did so by way of my powers of observation and reasoning and I don't think I did so "hysterically."
It appears you have not made a cogent point with your post. Try again.
It rather it appears that it is not I who has failed to make a cogent point but you who has failed to comprehend the plain meaning of the English language. Having made those blunders it is even more obnoxious of you to condescend with "Try again."
Disagreement with one’s views is fine and consistent with “Fair and Balanced,” as long as agreement with views also occurs.
In the absence of that, you don’t have “Fair and Balanced.”
Quit watching. Problem solved.
Critics do want a “Fair and Balanced” network.
Stop lying.
when the views are extremely narrow, they become outside the mainstream and irrelevant to the limited time available for reporting
I have been surprised how good MSNBC’s campaign coverage has been. Yes, MSNBC.
One America News
Love it. The shoe fits. I stopped watching her after that appalling behavior at the debate. I like Hannity and the Five, but only sometimes.
CNN's Wolf Blitzer and Dana Bash were better.
Perhaps Fox needs to put such a disclaimer on their mission statement.
Concur; I prefer CNN and MSNBC during the primaries over FOX; we'll see if that continues in the general election.
I haven’t watched it in two weeks and I don’t miss it. I think I’m done for good.
Levin TV sounds like a good alternative.
Galling but true. Watching it is like a kid holding his nose to get his greens down.
I think this is the malign influence of Murdochs two sons. They hate Ailes and keep trying to run him off.
