One account has it that the family declined it.

So if they do have a SS force, they must have a protocol to investigate people that are DOA on their watch. Plus, dont these high profile people get CAT scans of heart arteries? Stents are very cheap and it would seem he would have been screened.

Texas statute gives ENORMOUS “discretion” to officials. See it at http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/CR/htm/CR.49.htm

Read that after I posted.

We probably would not be told the truth if there was something nefarious...

Might, might not. It might pass into a different set of authority. SS is only to protect live people, not investigate why people died.

Maybe the family refused an autopsy to avoid revealing something embarrassing about what he was doing when he died.

Then again, maybe someone suffocated him with the pillow and arranged his lifeless body into a “compromising” position before leaving the room, thereby assuring the family would nix an autopsy.

Or maybe he actually died from natural causes. The only thing for sure is we will never know, now will we? Even if he actually had a heart attack, why wouldn’t the family want to know for sure? And why didn’t the JP who declared him dead (without being there on location) go ahead and order an autopsy?

Maybe the JP couldn’t find an ME who wanted to die early like Loretta Duffy’s ME and Andrew Brietbart’s ME assistant died.

This just gives the conspiracy minded more fuel. It's ALL a game. So I'll play...

He goes to China, and is either poisoned, or the plane ride affects Scalia's already out of shape, old body. He dies as predicted in bed at the ranch.

Someone gets to him at the ranch. The autopsy denial is to cover it up

Where are his stupid children and wife? Do they have any understanding of the situation?

79 year old people die, it happens. At that age the common cold can take you out. No autopsy needed.

Which is why this is probably a teapot tempest.

It’s inconvenient in a way. It increases the activist quotient of the Court by decreasing the anti-activist quotient of it.

But the problem of the USSC is not a new discovery. It’s as old as Marbury v. Madison. If a “We The People” has been so torpid as not to do something like what is now called a Bork Amendment in all that time, it’s on “Us.”

Why should there be? He was 79, said he wasn’t feeling well, etc.

PLEASE don’t tell me there is yet another ludicrous con theory arising that he was murdered? Lord help us.

And anyhow about the pillow. Certainly his family could be asked if he customarily slept that way. Some people lie on their back and hug the pillow. Maybe since he’s Italian he was thinking he was eating lasagna.

Heart attacks release a unique enzyme in your blood stream, a quick tox screen would find out if he was having a heart attack. No autopsy needed if you find that in the blood.

That's your theory and you're sticking with it. Good grief.

Haha ..with the Clintons in the picture you have to consider all possibilities. They aren't taking any chances this cycle. Hillary already has the delegates and a favorable court means a close election can be handed to her. But why Scalia ? Because it's plausible. He is old, overweight, likes food, wine and cigars and does not exercise. It's waiting to happen. Just lure him into the desert and whack him and no one will think anything but natural causes. In fact I will go so far to say don't be surprised if Bernie doesn't show up for breakfast one morning.

He’s Catholic. Catholics don’t like autopsies. If he doesn’t have to have one, they won’t agree to it.

Is this considered of itself to be an autopsy action?

IIRC, in New Mexico, if someone dies at home or elsewhere other than a hospital, hospice or some type of health care facility an autopsy is automatic.

Not sure about Texas and I stand to be corrected re: NM.

Multiple ways exist to induce a heart attack that do NOT leave anything detectable unless special tests are used. Two I know of just plain are NOT detectable.

So this really doesn’t mean anything.

BTW, sometimes 79 year old people do just have a heart attack and die. In fact, I had a non-drinking non-smoking workout beast friend drop dead of a heart attack at 41. Dead before he hit the ground. Sometimes is just happens.
