Grading the South Carolina Debate: Trump, Carson, Rubio, Cruz, Kasich, Bush
Opinion ^ | 14 Feb 16 | Xzins

Posted on 02/14/2016 4:36:44 AM PST by xzins

1. Trump, A+ -- Fought like a champion. Finally, someone with the guts to call out our nation for being 15 years at war, still killing our sons and daughters so politicians can put a feather in their cap, and most of them calling for more war. Bush wants BWIII, Bush War III

2. Carson, A-, quietly but effectively said that he was in it for the people, that he'd been asked to run, and that he wasn't there for any other reason. Outstanding.

3. Rubio, B+, Say what you like, but Rubio wiped the floor with Cruz on the immigration question. The April 2015 video shows Cruz supporting 'talking about what to do with immigrants after the wall is built.' It shows him calling for massive increases in H1B visas.

4. Cruz, C, Clearly the most knowledgeable about the supreme court vacancy. He needs to stop misrepresenting others' positions. Trump called him out on the Planned Parenthood question. Trump has clearly called for defunding PP if they keep doing abortions. If they voluntarily stop doing abortions, then he would support their doing breast exams and pap smears and the like.

5. Kasich, C, Did a Mr. Rogers in the neighborhood act. Hillary Clinton will eat his lunch.

6. Bush, F-, This man is totally lacking in insight. He actually called for another war in the middle east AND he wants to fund Al Qaeda in Syria. He's simply not up to the task.

Trump is wildly inconsistent in what he says day-to-day. Some folks believe they can trust him. I don’t.

Giving Trump an A+ is bizarre. Do you rally think GW Bush flat out lied about WMD? Really? And you think Ted Cruz is a sleazy liar for calling out the FACT that Trump would continue Planned Parenthood funding which Trump finally admitted)?

Trump is a vast improvement over Obama/Hillary/Bernie but he is not a God.

Who DO you trust? The candidates currently in office who’ve proven they are traitors to conservatism and the constituents who put them there?

Baloney? Yes you’ve paid in. You’ll collect more if you live a typical age. The numbers are quite astounding.

When social security was created the average person lived to about 66 at most. The average is much longer now.

You know what, bb. I have 24+ years in the military. I have TWO combat patches. I have family who between the 2 of them have a combined 13 trips to Iraq, Afghan, Kuwait, and Jordan...launching places for missions or actually in the middle of a hot zone.

And our family has been part of this for every single year since 9/11 and I’m not counting Bosnia/Kosovo, again with radical Islam.

When you’re ready to have your child brought home in a body bag for some politician’s unwillingness to admit the obvious, that we’ve NEVER been able to walk down a street in Iraq or Afghanistan since we launched this fiasco, that we’ve spent too much blood for politician cannon fodder, and that it is going on mindlessly killing our troops for the Saudis, who are the ones who financially backed the 9/11 killers in the first place, then you get with me.

Trump calls it like it is.

Will YOU go to Iraq and walk down ANY street alone, and I’ll let it be in broad daylight?

I think that the position that Bush lied is acceptable.

Trump didn’t want to go into Iraq in the first place.

Hans Blick was saying they had found no WMDs stockpiled in Iraq. He was head of the inspectors.

For someone to believe that it was a sleight of hand case that Bush made is fine with me.

The good Lord knows GEORGE never defended it. JEB said just a few months ago his brother was WRONG.

Of course not, dumbass. Obama was sure to lose any chance of peace we were ever going to have there.

Sorry that is hard to figure out.

Liberals always set traps for conservatives: “Some conservatives say Government Program X should be defunded, that solving this problem is not the government’s role, but meanwhile, millions are suffering, do you want them to suffer?”

When a conservative avoids the trap by saying “Government Program X should be defunded, but nobody will be left to suffer”, fellow conservatives should applaud the deftness with which the liberal trap has been avoided.

Instead, they form a circular firing squad and attack their own for not being consistent, not being a pure enough conservative, for deflecting.

No wonder the Republican Party is known as the stupid party.

Sorry, but it’s not what you know but what you can prove.

Not saying it’s a popular view, but it’s merely a promise, and we were lied to about SS.

It’s a tax, and therefore it’s government property now.

The saying “wish in one hand” come s to mind here.

I DON’T think that’s it. I remember Carson in his lead up to deciding whether to enter the race or not. He had thousands on facebook, twitter, etc. giving him support.

Did you know that the most recent fundraising quarter in the books — that Carson OUT-RAISED all republican candidates? Did you know that?

24 MILLION dollars.

I thought Trump went over the handle bars with his comment about GWB being responsible for not preventing the 9/11 attack...but otherwise thought he did a decent job.

Too bad he didn’t use some time to call out the RNC for using his name for fund raising without his permission.

“Your grades seem to have been made before the debate. I only saw part of it, but an honest grader wouldn’t give Trump an A+ or John Ellis Bush an F-. “

To me, Jeb gets an F just for being alive. Anything he says after that makes the grade go down.

GW Bush NEVER had Iraq so you could walk down a street. NEVER.

And you’re afraid to admit to yourself that after 15 years we don’t have a damn thing to show for it except a bunch of body bags, wounded warriors, and grieving and scarred families.

My record and my family’s record stands against your lack of depth.

entitlement reform

Code word for dumping Social Security. But in it's purist form, getting rid of fraud and negotiating the price of drugs for medicare is also reform. The other politicians on the stage don't seem as interested in that since the drug companies own them. Personally, Social Security - for those who paid into it for over 30 years - appears to be a compact rather than an 'entitlement', if you will.

My son fought in Iraq. He and I both support Bush going to Iraq, then and now.

Both of us can’t stand Trump.
