Donald Trump op-ed: My vision for a Culture of Life
Washington Examiner ^ | January 23, 2016 | Donald Trump

Posted on 01/23/2016 8:47:03 AM PST by ironman

Let me be clear - I am pro-life. I support that position with exceptions allowed for rape, incest or the life of the mother being at risk. I did not always hold this position, but I had a significant personal experience that brought the precious gift of life into perspective for me. My story is well documented, so I will not retell it here. However, what I will do with the remaining space is express my feelings about life, and the culture of life, as we just marked the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

I build things. There is a process involved in building things.......The rules for putting structures together are as strict as are the rules of physics. These rules have stood the test of time and have become the path to putting together structures that endure and are beautiful. America, when it is at its best, follows a set of rules that have worked since our Founding. One of those rules is that we, as Americans, revere life and have done so since our Founders made it the first, and most important, of our "unalienable" rights.

Over time, our culture of life in this country has started sliding toward a culture of death. Perhaps the most significant piece of evidence to support this assertion is that since Roe v. Wade was decided by the Supreme Count 43 years ago, over 50 million Americans never had the chance to enjoy the opportunities offered by this country. They never had the chance to become doctors, musicians, farmers, teachers, husbands, fathers, sons or daughters. They never had the chance to enrich the culture of this nation or to bring their skills, lives, loves or passions into the fabric of this country. They are missing, and they are missed.

"Two Corinthians walk into a bar... Stop me if you've heard this before..."

Tell that to his eminent domain victims.

Keep in mind the average Trumpster believes the word is "imminent" and therefore has no idea what your comment means.

[Isn’t that Santorum’s position? How’s he doing?]

Santorum’s position is a winner in GOD’S eyes. He’ll pass the muster when he stands before GOD. That’s what really matters.

Like it or not, most Americans feel the same way as Trump.

Most support restrictions on Abortion, but they do not support a complete ban on Abortion for the same reasons he stated.

People seem to think that Roe v Wade will be reversed and ANY Abortion Procedure will be banned. It will never happen.

Just stating facts that exist outside the FR Bubble. Not arguing the point. It is what it is.

YES, this is the typical Left wing politician’s answer”

Please provide a quote from Hillary Clinton saying that she’s “pro-life.”

Please keep in mind that most people don’t give a rat’s patoot about it no matter how it’s spelled. They want to dump the corrupt bastards. They want jobs. They want borders. They want an end to Muslim terrorism. They want America back!

It’s excellent news if he’s changed his mind since that 1999? interview with Tim Russert.

I completely agree, Jim. I would add to that, "and undo the damage the Obama has done over the past 7+ years." That problem was primarily the result of a dramatic expansion of the size and role of government. By his own comments, Trump sees government not as the solution, not the problem. He's not going to repeal ObamaCare, for example - he's going to "replace" it with another big government program "that will be terrific."

While the Tea Parties were marching and rallying in opposition to ObamaCare and the Obama regime in general - Trump was writing checks to Harry Reid so he could defeat his Tea Party opponent Sharron Angle.

He's a big government populist, not a conservative. What few policy ideas he has actually put forth are shallow and superficial, and require faith along the lines of "then a miracle occurs." "Hiring smart people" to "make America great again" is not a strategy, it is the 2016 version of "hope and change" and a jingoistic insult to our intelligence as conservatives.

Trump is not going to give us America back - America has been damaged by big government liberal policies, and the prescription for that particular disease is not more big government - it is conservative, smaller government policies.

I loved the analogy of building structures and building our nation.

I wonder who wrote this for him. Let me know when Trump actually SPEAKS all these things in this way from out of his mouth.

Yep, hold on to that image of Trump despite what he's written and what he says just about every day.

I grade lots of papers. When a student turns in a paper that is totally unlike, in content and/or style, the way the student normally expresses himself, I get suspicious. I wonder who actually wrote this.

This is exactly Trumps writing style compared to how Trump has expressed himself in every book he's authored.

I don't speak for God so I don't know about that. I do know that Santorum won't be the nominee, and that since he lost his senate seat his influence on abortion law is minimal.

The more evangelicals don't care about winning elections the less political influence they'll have.

Something to think about.
