Donald Trump op-ed: My vision for a Culture of Life
Washington Examiner ^ | January 23, 2016 | Donald Trump

Posted on 01/23/2016 8:47:03 AM PST by ironman

Let me be clear - I am pro-life. I support that position with exceptions allowed for rape, incest or the life of the mother being at risk. I did not always hold this position, but I had a significant personal experience that brought the precious gift of life into perspective for me. My story is well documented, so I will not retell it here. However, what I will do with the remaining space is express my feelings about life, and the culture of life, as we just marked the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

I build things. There is a process involved in building things.......The rules for putting structures together are as strict as are the rules of physics. These rules have stood the test of time and have become the path to putting together structures that endure and are beautiful. America, when it is at its best, follows a set of rules that have worked since our Founding. One of those rules is that we, as Americans, revere life and have done so since our Founders made it the first, and most important, of our "unalienable" rights.

Over time, our culture of life in this country has started sliding toward a culture of death. Perhaps the most significant piece of evidence to support this assertion is that since Roe v. Wade was decided by the Supreme Count 43 years ago, over 50 million Americans never had the chance to enjoy the opportunities offered by this country. They never had the chance to become doctors, musicians, farmers, teachers, husbands, fathers, sons or daughters. They never had the chance to enrich the culture of this nation or to bring their skills, lives, loves or passions into the fabric of this country. They are missing, and they are missed.

You aren’t kidding anyone with that challenge. He could tattoo it on his face and you’ll cobble some excuse it’s not genuine.

You’ve got your guy. Enjoy.

You said...
“Nice product by whomever Trump’s staff paid to write it. It will accurately reflect the Donald’s views until after he is elected -— at which time his standard pro-choice beliefs will reassert themselves.”

Lol...

I think we’re going to find that’s the case on many other issues, also

don’t know if you’re religious or not but in the little country church I go to, we are taught in Sunday School that to spread a rumors that we have no proof is true is covered under “false witness “. Since those Ten Commandments have no ranking it is equal with murder and steal and committing adultery.
Is that also what your church teaches?

Well, you diehard Cruz fans better hope his ground game pulls out the Iowa Caucus’, because if Trump beats him in Iowa, it’s all over but the concession speeches.

And Trump now only trails Cruz by 2-4% when it comes to “very conservative” voters, so Trump is persuading conservatives at a rapid rate.

As far as I understand it, he has no victims of any eminent domain disputes. Off topic as well.

Let’s. See the link and names. If you can’t produce than you are at same level as spreading rumors / false witnessing. Which is equal to thou shalt not kill

If you have NOT seen the fact for yourself and are able to reproduce it you are spreading rumor A rumor is believing what someone else told you without them giving you proof. A name, a receipt , and jacket cover something admissible in court. You can justify your behavior to me but not to the All Seeing One.
Remember that when you say your prayers this evening. The sins I have confessed— The sins cannot see

Judge not that you be judged

I agree, but making abortion difficult to procure will not create (recreate) a culture of life.

To do that we have to change culture itself.

You'd have to create a culture which thinks that children and the future -- not present pleasures -- are valuable. You'd have to create a culture of self-sacrifice and deferred gratification and humility in acknowledging the Creator.

Pregnancy isn't an abstraction. It's the result of a series of decisions made. What sort of values are being exercised in making those decisions?

In a hedonistic, nihilistic society, the sexual act is seen as an end it itself, and that end is pleasure. The byproduct of that act -- pregnancy -- is seen as an inconvenience. This is where it all begins.

A culture which sees value in every woman -- even the old woman who gets helped across the street by the proverbial Boy Scout -- is a culture which values life. The Boy Scout is honoring what the woman represents as a giver of life (whether the woman actually gave birth to a child or not). A culture of chivalry is a culture which honors women and their life-giving potential. It is not a culture which divides women into "useful" ("hot") and "not useful" ("past her expiration date") camps.

In all the talk about abortion, I think that people are not really focusing on how these women become pregnant. It isn't by running down to the sperm bank. Those aren't the women seeking to terminate their pregnancies.

Newsources.... linked at the top of that post you are referring to: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/donald-trump-uncredited-ghostwriter-new-book-article-1.2424852

In 1987, Schwartz co-authored Trump: The Art of the Deal with Donald Trump

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Schwartz_%28author%29

Reminder: Donald Trump didn’t write ‘The Art of the Deal’

This might seem a bit obvious to those in publishing — that when a celebrity or political figure comes out with a memoir or autobiographical title, it’s not untypical that a ghost writer does all the heavy lifting. In most cases, a second by-line is included in the book’s artwork. Such is definitely the case for Donald Trump’s 1987 bestseller The Art of the Deal, which acknowledges self-help author and ghostwriter Tony Schwartz on the bottom-right of the front cover.

I am doing my best to only post factual information on FR. Posting misleading information on FR helps no one. In my haste I have been guilty of it in the past.
I don't think that was speculation. I don't think it is unusual, most politicians use speech writers and ghost writers for books. They are too busy to be involved with that.
He could even write down his rough thoughts and then the speech writer or ghost writer makes it pretty.

I did not participate in calling for a statement from Trump. I would be interested to know if he would stand by this.

When the Daily Caller's Jamie Weinstein asked Trump if he would have become pro-life if that child had been a loser instead of a "total superstar," Trump replied: "Probably not, but I've never thought of it. I would say no, but in this case it was an easy one because he's such an outstanding person."

Why should a woman be forced to give birth to the child of the scumbag who raped her? She didn’t ask to become pregnant.

Thank you for factual information Agree It’s the constant misinformation that must be stopped !
One person keeps charging his “liberal” sister was pro abortion. The truth is that she has an identicle record with Sam Alito. (She spoke for him at his confirmation hearing ) He was Her colleague and is friend. They had no choice but to make the decision the supreme court had ruled on an identicle case just before The premise had nothing to do with abortion but with states rights to make decisions. All facts can be checked at Wiki simply by following links and reading. A skill that many seem to lack lately. Oh for the Good Ol Days!
