Trump was responding to a Wall Street Journal report that Republican operatives are considering banding together donors from the other GOP campaigns in a bid to knock Trump off the top spot.
Their efforts are taking on increased urgency as the first-in-the-nation Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses near and Trump leads the crowded GOP field for the fourth consecutive month, according to a new national Washington Post-ABC News poll. Some candidates, including Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Florida governor Jeb Bush, also are showing more willingness lately to directly attack Trump.

“Iâm done talking to you since you are willfully obtuse and a party hack.”
Much nihilism there. Interesting.
If Cruz is the nominee, then no.
So... knowing Hillary, in an eight-year administration, would be replacing a minimum of 3 SCOTUS justices, thatâs somehow worth it to stick it to the GOP?
That is the ONLY reason I will vote for whoever the GOP puts up. Of course some here say well we got this and that with a 4 Conservative vote but because we didn’t get our way 100 percent, we are going to lose the 80 percent we do get with wins? That always makes me wonder how some could be so dumb or stubborn to let a Democrat get the Presidency when the Supreme Court is in the balance makes no sense to me.
In 2008 we were subjected to: “If you don’t vote for McCain, Obama will win.”
So we swallowed our vomit and because Sarah Palin was with him, a lot of us pushed the buttons in the voting booth. Shame on the GOP establishment for pushing this loser on us.
In 2012, we heard the same tune: “Support our Dem-lite candidate, Mittens, or Obama will win!”
Well, that was shame on us.
“Just give us both houses and everything will be swell!” trumpets the GOP establishment.
So a lot of us voted a GOP straight ticket last fall—and we got a parliament of whores.
This empty threat: “Elect Bush, Rubio, _____, or else we get Hillary!” It’s not going to fly a third (or fourth) time.
Scott, your tagline: “If you’re not enraged... why?” It’s very similar to one of my favorites: “If you aren’t p*****-off by now, you haven’t been paying attention.”
So ... exactly *when* do we start to clean out this nest of vipers known as the GOP-e?
When do we toss out frauds claiming to be our friends, career politicians who decide our candidate before we even get to vote in our own primaries because they know he will support funding things like infanticide and cheap labor, poltroons who pride themselves in “being able to work with the other side of the aisle”.
The next time around? Or 2018? The election after that?
You haven’t been paying attention, FRiend.
The time is now.
Money and ads won’t knock down Trump.
Protecting Americans and our rights granted by God will get them support - and maybe as much as Trump. But they’re not going to knock him down.
He may knock himself down but he is saying what Americans want to hear. Going negative on that is going negative on Americans.
I’m beginning to think the GOPe really wants Hillary to win.
Everything they’re doing points to that conclusion.
Absolutely. It will take those supporting Cruz, Fiorina, and Carson because they're perceived as outsiders (whether they are or not) to get the message and support Trump. No one but Trump in the Republican pack (except maybe Rubio) has the broad spectrum of appeal to cut into the Democratic faithful vote.
I realize that's an extremely controversial statement around here. But it's the best path to victory....have almost every state sewn up before the convention. Otherwise, the manipulators will find a way to steal the nomination for Jeb or a wannabee.
Not sure what Republic you believe in, but the one that was the USA ended with Obama.
Hopefully Trump will do WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE, so as to allow Cruz to restore our Republic - as I agree with you, I prefer a Republic, more for my kids than myself.
Even with the all out assault by the GOPe, media and other candidates, Trump is the front runner. Even more important, Trump is the only one with crossover appeal. He is the candidate who has the best chance against Hillary.
If the Republicans lose the general, regardless of who is nominated, there is no doubt Trump will be blamed. There is also no doubt the religious right and the GOPe will no longer be relevant in American politics.
I think he could pull it off, too. And the crossover vote is, I think, a powerful factor. That’s going to be impressive, whether he runs as a Republican or third-party.

Carrying out the trash is not nihilism.
Remember in the olden days when a Repub. candidate was very very popular, the GOP would be happy and support him because they like to win?
That’s about where I am too at this point.
I think this is Trump’s way of sending a message to the GOPe that you better not try this crapola.
I’m not a Trump supporter, but I think this is smart of him.
Agreed on all points.
Hmm. Half of FR is already trying to pick a Cabinet for this guy. Why would such an obviously popular candidate, with such ‘yuge’ potential, even need to consider a third party?
Pubs own that.

Not this again—If he is cheated out of the Nomination by the RINOs and we must have BUSH III—the GOP may well be split. In that world maybe Trump will go 3rd Party with a lion as symbol—and if he does he just may win (unless the votes are cheated—Got to get Bush so he can lose to Hillary). many are openly saying that the only way to stop Trump is with a bullet.
[ Sounds reasonable considering the GOP has not been fair.
Thing is, Trump is leading the GOP polls, perhaps they should ask the others this question. ]
Funny isn’t it, how the GOPe always told us that they need to pick a nominee for us who will “win”.
I guess the GOPe doesn’t want to win anymore, they want to preserve they position as the dug under the table enjoy the measly scraps the dims and big government wonks throw for it to gnaw on.
Absolutely right. The irony, however, is that this would probably be what the GOPe wants, a guaranteed loss in November 2016. They have always been more afraid of winning and actually governing than anything else. How else to explain their determination to crown Jeb, or to draft Romney. They’ve become comfortable in their loser’s seat and don’t want to burden themselves with the extra work. Their inertia since winning both houses in 2014 is total proof of this. With the control of the legislative branch, they hold the purse strings and that’s all that matters.
