Kevin McCarthy’s implosion signals a full-blown Republican revolution

McCarthy's demise comes hard on the heels of Boehner bowing out of the speakership as a sort of human sacrifice to the tea party right. And it happens as Donald Trump is in the midst of his fourth consecutive month as the Republican front-runner for the party's presidential nomination -- and with Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, two other people who have never held elected office before, running in second and third place, respectively.

I don’t see this as a GOP revolution. I see it as the beginning of an American revolution against corrupt wealthy bigoted north east pc enamored Harvard policy making elites, who wish to rule and trash us while always pushing their point of view of gun control and open borders.

t is interesting how the TEA Party and The House Freedom Caucus members are blamed for Speaker Boehner resigning and now for Leader McCarthy withdrawing from the Speaker race.

In 2010, these same people ran on conservative values and a desire to return the federal government to Constitional principles. An understanding that the states created the federal government, not the other way around. An understanding that the government which we have is to be for the people, of the people and by the people,

A Pledge was made to America by the GOP leadership in the House at the time. Not a hope, a desire or even a promise - but, rather, a Pledge to the people. You entrust us, the Republicans, with control of the House and this is how we will govern.

Now, the very members of Congress who helped make the majority are blamed - simply because they have wanted to adhere to the Pledge and to their own promises to the American people that we would fight the fundamental transformation of the United States and return the power to its rightful owners - you.

Daniel Webster was not my choice for Speaker. I have fought a lot of battles in 4 1/2 years in Washington and when I looked in the trench beside me during those fights, I never saw Dan. He is a fine man, a true patriot for being willing to put his hat in the ring when others didn't seem to have the courage. But, I believe, America is looking for fight and inspiration and leadership.

But in order to affect reform to this broken process here in Washington, many of us could not just go along with the status quo or swallow the seemingly aristocratic practice of the prince becoming the king and the jr prince becoming the sr prince and so on.

Not sure where this goes from here. I will say this: when McCarthy announced his withdrawal today, Speaker Boehner immediately postponed the vote for a new speaker of the House. Ask yourself if he would have postponed the vote had Webster or Chaffetz been the one to withdraw today?

America is looking for someone who will fight. The fight might be with President Obama. It might be with Harry Reid. It might be with Mitch McConnell. It might be with me. But, I believe, America expects the Republicans to at least try to land a few punches (understanding that we MIGHT lose) before you give up or get knocked out. What we have witnessed, IMHO, is the GOP leadership lying down on the side of the ring, declaring themselves KO'd before throwing ANY punches and before the bell even rang to begin the fight!

On major issues, the ONLY bills we have had a chance to vote for have been those worked out with Harry Reid beforehand (called "Pre-Conferencing") and Harry Reid declaring that this bill is the only thing that will pass the Senate. Therefore, the only bills brought to the floor have been Harry Reid's agreed upon bills. No input was taken from regular Members of Congress who represent the 700,000 constituents in their districts. No Amendments could be offered. It was Harry Reid's bill or nothing -and guess what? Leaders have waited until the very last minute before government funding ran out or the borrowing limit was reached - so that they coukd use words like "shutdown" and "default" to scare YOU and Members of Congress in order to get these bills passed.

It is a crappy way to operate and is the real reason for the situation we have in the House today. Disfunction exists in the House. I don't deny that. But it isn't just due to the TEA Party or the Freedom Caucus as some would have you believe. Those who get caught up in the shutdown fear or default scare are as much to blame. If you pass a funding bill and set it to expire 9 months later, why do you wait 9 months to begin writing another one? If you know the credit card is maxed on March 15, why do you wait until November to begin discussing maybe getting a credit limit increase?

It is ludicrous and it is no wonder America sees this place as dysfunctional! So- what or who am I looking for in the next Speaker? Someone who will be a fighter. You don't have to pick a fight, just be willing to when needed!

Someone who will tell Obama "No, Mr. President, you can't make law - that is our job." And be willing to prohibit funds from being used to implement any unConstitutional Executive actions.

Someone who will sternly fight for the House's role in the legislative process and for the Legislative Branch's rightful place as a co-equal Branch of government.

Someone who is willing to tackle the unpopular but necessary task of cutting mandatory spending. Someone who will, also, redirect the sequester cuts away from our weakened and decimated United States military and actually target those cuts to waste, fraud, abuse and duplication.

These challenges aren't easy nor is the job to cobble 218 votes necessary to pass a bill from the House. But it is easier when those bills are OUR bills, when the American people are given time to get engaged on the issues, when they are tackled early in the process and when general Members of Congress feel they were part of the process - have some skin in the game and feel some ownership of the issue.

We, can do this. But we need to BYOG.

Bring our own guts to the task.
