A Morning Consult poll, released Friday, surveyed 504 registered voters who watched Wednesdays Republican primary debate and has only good news for Republican frontrunner Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina. While the polls sample size is small (with a 4.4% margin of error), the polls trend is worth noting.
In this same poll, prior to Wednesday nights debate, Trump sat at 33% support. Dr. Ben Carson sat in second place with 17% support. Today Trump enjoys 36% support. Carson is still in second place but with just 12% support.
Trumps lead increased from +16 points to +24%. Thats an +8% jump.
With their shared status as outsiders, it appears as though Carsons support went to Fiorina. Prior to the debate the former-Hewlett Packard CEO had just 3% support. She now sits in third place with 10%, only -2 points behind second place Carson.

Psssst.....there is no second place.
Both Carson and Carly will decrease. Next batter? Cruz? Or Christy?
Post debate poll. Trump on top,
As I recall Morning Consult uses a very large sample size.
Fiorina did something very intelligent. She launched serious broadsides against Planned Parenthood. That is an effective way to put Carson’s support in play, and is not a strong point of Donald Trump at all.
Carly’s campaign would never be able to overcome all the attack ads that will be recycled from her loss to Boxer if she were the nominee. Laying off 30,000 people while receiving millions in compensation is something that is a loser for her no matter what the facts are behind it. I can just see the billboards now from coast to coast.
Small sample size this time (504 with a 4.4% MOE). But that’s still large enough to paint a pretty good picture.
YES!
Nice!
Yea I think the sample size was smaller because it was not just registered Republicans— but rather it was people who watched the debate and are gonna vote in the Republican primaries..
Awesome! Looks like Donald or Ted fit right in the Oval Office.
Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.
Losing isn’t anything.
Second place, or third of fifth or tenth, is losing.
Adding up the totals for ALL the top three, equals - some 58%.
Which pretty clearly puts the remainder of the field dividing up 42% or so.
Has Jim Gilmore dropped out officially? No-show at the debates....
Bush is tied with Christie? Too cool!
Looks like an unreliable flash poll
The word is getting out that Carson has fiddled with pre-borns.
Known also, is his non-existent understanding of the 2A, and he is a squish on the increasing urgency of dealing seriously with illegals, who are fundamentally transforming our country, converting our social traditions into Marx and socialism, and who are reportedly being pushed to vote in the next election.
The word is out on Fiorina. So far, she has no war room to punish the truth, which deems her as having absolutely NO old friends, as “odd”, and liberal, a disaster to two major companies and just one more climber.
Now days, hearing a women speak with love about those poor babies, just goes straight to a Christian's heart.
This poll seems plausible.
