NEW YORK (CNN) Donald Trump must rule out a third party bid before October if he wants to compete in South Carolinas Republican primary, a crucial test in the nominating contest.
Trump has repeatedly refused to rule out a third party candidacy, noting that he could use the threat of an independent bid as leverage, but he cannot appear on the South Carolina primary ballot unless he pledges to support the GOP nominee in the general election.

Candidates must file their candidacy with the South Carolina GOP by Sept. 30, submitting a form that includes a signed pledge stating to hereby affirm that I generally believe in and intend to support the nominees and platform of the Republican Party in the November 8, 2016 general election.

If I were Trump I would open a poll on my website.
If South Carolina does not back down, should I run third-party? ___ yes ___ no
The results will have the GOPe running for the tall grass within 48 hours.

How can he sign to support the GOP platform when he is against virtually all of it?
His poll numbers are BECAUSE he is against the GOPe.

He can sign that if he ‘intends’ to win the nomination.

On a more rational note, does anyone have a list of states that have “sore loser” laws that would prevent a candidate who ran in the Republican POTUS primary to run again as an independent in Nov?

Intentions change.
He can validly sign the pledge now, and change his mind later.
No problem.

If these a**holes think I’m going to vote for one of their hand-chosen, wimpy, RINO candidates - they are full of horse manure.

Sign it. If he intends to win, then he certainly intends to support the nominee and platform.
I'm not sure how you can swear or (politically correctly) "affirm" that you intend to do something.
I intend to be nice to my dog and kids when I get home tonight.

I would just say ‘sorry, WINNERS don’t have to make deals, it’s you LOSERS who do, or did you just enter politics and haven’t learned this so far?’

Sounds like loosey-goosey enough language for a deal-maker to sign.

Bingo. I agree.

Trump, at CNN's "Debate The Moderator"; should, when asked his first question, state:
Before I answer your question Jake, I'd like see by show of hands, who will support me should I win the Republican nomination.

That’s what I was wondering. Can they just make it a requirement that candidates promise not to use their own money, that they can’t use anyone other than Republican consultants, or maybe that you must pledge complete loyalty and obedience to the GOP ruling class.
Can he sue them?

Hopefully, Trump will address this issue tonight in Iowa.

If his momentum keeps up, he won’t need a 3rd party run. He IS the 3rd party.............................

There’s the key word - intend. How many people have good intentions and don’t follow through?
