Cruz- “This bill was a missed opportunity. If Congress had acted to defend our constitutional authority – if Congress had adopted the Cruz-Toomey amendment – then we would be able to stop a bad Iran deal. Instead, the odds are now overwhelming that under these ground rules President Obama will negotiate, and Congress will acquiesce to, a terrible deal that allows Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and will endanger the lives of millions of Americans and our allies.
“I voted no on cloture because we should have insisted on amendments to put real teeth in this bill. Ultimately, I voted yes on final passage because it may delay, slightly, President Obama’s ability to lift the Iran sanctions and it ensures we will have a Congressional debate on the merits of the Iran deal. I will continue to lead the fight to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to protect the national security of America and our allies.”

I voted against it before I voted for it. I’ll take a 2004, with a twist, please.

I think the bottom line here is that if Cruz votes no, it is a symbolic gesture on something that will give the senate a say on what happens. You vote no, any input you give afterwards lacks credibility.
I think he didn’t want to vote yes, but by voting yes, his voice will be heard.
It’s a good move politically and doesn’t hurt him since he voted no on cloture.
As I see it, voting no would label him “extremist”...voting NO when it was going to pass anyways wouldn’t have changed anything but Cruz chances to win in 2016 which we desperately need him to do. Its the Republican leadership that has caved TOTALLY.

what the heck. i voted against it before i voted for it? more games. starting to make me wonder.

Let’s just start a revolution this summer and see which side he’s on. If ISIS does attack, I hope we don’t “all come together to fight a common threat.” Instead, I hope we recognize who invite that threat and take it all the way. Anyway.
Why should he fear the “extremist” label? Who has that label damaged? Did it hurt Reagan?
The “Republican leadership” has been liberal from the beginning; they did not “cave” to anyone.

Makes sense. He voted yes on the final passage because it it the only way left to slow this down.
The bottom line here is the Pubbies folded again and gave Obama must of what he wanted.
After all, McConnell touted that the bill was bi-partisan. The Media applauded — not McConnell folding, but Obama winning another around.
Mr. Cruz has already been labeled an extremist. It’s just sad that many of those doing the labeling come from his own party.
Bipartisan=screw the people.
Bad move. The GOP is going to ram it through for Barry anyway. Slowing it down matters little to not at all. Shoulda stayed a solid no and campaigned on it.
