The Washington Post editorial board is sharply criticizing Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) for his "silence" on former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's controversial comments that President Obama does not love America.
Walker later did not condemn the comments.
The mayor can speak for himself," he said on CNBC the next morning. "Im not going to comment on what the president thinks or not. He can speak for himself as well."
The Post called Walker out for not making stronger comments, and noted that Walker said he would "punt" on a question about evolution earlier this month.
"Mr. Walker likes to present himself as a man of courage, based on his record in Wisconsin, but maybe facing down public-sector unions doesnt tell you all that much about the bravery of a Republican governor," the Post wrote. "On two occasions in recent days, he has proved himself incapable of saying basic truths that might offend some of his potential voters: First, that evolution is real, and second, that an honorable politician criticizes his opponents policies, not his patriotism."
The Post meanwhile praised Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), a potential rival to Walker, for saying that I believe the president loves America."
A spokeswoman for Jeb Bush has likewise said that he "doesn't question President Obama's motives."
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R), though, has backed Giuliani, also drawing a response from the Post.
"It was particularly pathetic to see Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R), another would-be president, scrambling to steal some of the spotlight of Mr. Walkers cowardice by issuing a statement titled, 'Gov. Jindal Refuses to Condemn Mayor Giuliani,'" the Post wrote. "The only response to that can be, who cares?"
Waiting for Walker to make his own statement.
“Obama’s actions speak for themselves.”
“He is following through on his promise to fundamentally transform America.”
“If he loved it, he would not seek to transform it.”
There all PO’ed cause there is nothing to twist and mis quote....
Excellent response from Walker IMOP
Barack Obama loves America. Based on what?
Barack Obama believes in free enterprise. Based on what?
Barack Obama is a Christian. Based on what?
Barack Obama is a supporter of Israel. Based on what?
who
There is some degree of fault on both sides, most of it on the side of the administration, but Giuliani rashly took the bait. The situation is sufficiently fraught that wading into it only muddies it and hands ammunition to people who would like to pretend that Giuliani’s criticism was without merit.
He gave the best response and articles like this one prove it
The Compost Ed board should be drug through the streets till they are blobs of pink goo
they have ceased to be worthy of being called americans
It is a trap. That is how the media operates. They make an issue out of a non-issue and then try to trip you up when they coerce you into responding.
But they instead focus on Scott Walker refusing to condemn or condone comments made by Rudy Guiliani, which killed no one, but merely made another attempt to note that our emperor has no clothing.
I’d say the WP is desperate for something to hang on Walker...
Barack Obama is an extremely intelligent man. Based on what?
Walker: Why yes, I was quite upset when then Senator Obama called President Bush “Unpatriotic” and when then Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called President Bush “stupid” in front of a class of Schoolchildren.
Was that your question?
Oh BTW, I don’t comment when a Private Citizen uses their Freedom of Speech to make a point about Elected Politicians they disagree with.
The Post has been silent on Wright and Sharpton and numerous others. Nonsense!
Can you imagine the Wash Compost “calling out” Cuomo for his silence on Obama’s outrageous statements on Islam and violence?
That’s right. No.
Butthouse Barry is an America-hating, Constitution-hating, Christian-hating, Jew-hating, Muzzie-Marxist, homosexual usurper.
The Comments Section at the link is a hoot!
Man, that says it all.
Right now the ONLY thing I am looking for in a Presidential candidate is the honesty to simply tell the truth about who Obama is and what he is doing. Anybody who is willing to publicly say, “The emperor is naked!” has reached the first point in the process of resistance: open eyes.
The rest of them - as they all fall with their butts in the air to bow to the 90-foot tall idol - are liars and losers. Minders for the government propaganda machine, making sure the truth never gets out.
Looks like Jeb has the same fighting spirit as his brother and dad.
Pray America is waking
Quite right. If he does get cornered though he could make his own criticisms of the administrative actions which caused Giuliani to boil over. If nothing else Walker is calm, cool, and collected enough to make the editorial board lose it worse than Giuliani did, and knock them off their high horse, so to speak!
