A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee's "dishonorable side."
According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves 'The Committee,'" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day."
The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st.
They added: "The time has come for us, as students, to ask that the university hold itself responsible for its past and present dishonorable conduct and for the racist and dishonorable conduct of Robert E. Lee."

The administration should ask one, simple question:
Please detail your compelling reasons regarding why you chose to attend Washington and Lee college?
Why did you people choose that School the name alone says it all. Transfer!
Why did you people choose that School the name alone says it all.

To do this very thing.
Tell them to shut up and go home and do their homework.
The students “demanded”... oooohh we got us some badasses over here.
This Yankee has never seen anything to suggest that Lee was anything other than an Honorable man and excellent military leader.
Maybe they thought it was named for Denzel Washington and Spike Lee and didn't figure out the truth until they'd paid their tuition?
If the university bends to the will of seven neo-Nazi fascists, the rest of the students ought to transfer out in protest.
One of these days, the minorities are gonna wake up and discover that Whitey ain’t gonna play their games no more. Then they are going to be in for a shiite-load of trouble.
(Yawn) Young minds filled with mush. I can hardly wait for concerned students at William and Mary to start marching against British imperialism.
This W&L grad always liked Lee-Jackson Day. There was a nice parade. Everyone loves a parade.
It does make me wonder, though, what these people thought they were getting into when they signed up to attend W&L. Did they not visit the campus? Lee (and Traveller) is buried on campus, for goodness sakes. The “Committee” is all Yankees, no doubt.
I doubt they’ll get a lot of traction. Lee was very, very good to the school, and, particularly the undergraduate campus, is pretty conservative.
Tell them to go walk in the Forrest..................
Hopefully that day will come soon.
It is not that they have a strange and eccentric viewpoint. It is that they are threatening to cause mischief, if the viewpoint of the institution, and most of its students continues to be respected--a form of blackmail, which should justify that expulsion.

These minorities are so full of hate and blame whitey for every one of their problems.
If you listed the innovations that have improved the quality of life for everyone, you can thank whitey for over 95% of them. They should be thanking whitey.
Oh vey. These idiots don’t realize Lee, who was Superintendent of West Point, turned what was then Washington Univ into a modern university. If it wasn’t for Lee’s reforms there might not even be a University.
High school graduates. Inspiring, isn’t it?
Expel them. Problem solved.
