In a secret meeting on Tuesday morning, Senator Rand Paul (R., Ky.) hosted a bipartisan group of senators and House members in the Capitols basement. According to several participants, the lawmakers plotted ways to stop the use of U.S. military force in Syria.
Since the diplomatic situation is fluid, there was no final consensus on how best to combat the administration, but potential legislative maneuvers, press appearances, and letters were discussed. Several undecided members asked questions.
Aides say Paul planned the gathering over a week ago, and the list of attendees grew by the day. He is pleased, especially, by the number of Democrats who are eager to work with him to kill the war resolution. Representatives Alan Grayson (D., Fla.) and Tulsi Gabbard (D., Hawaii), among other liberals, spoke.
The meeting, which started at 8:00 a.m., lasted for an hour. It was a conversational setting, with members sitting and talking through the issue, rather than giving speeches. Coffee was provided, but most of the guests brought their own cups.
How is it secret, if everyone knows about it.
The far left and the far right have always spoken their minds. What we have in common is we aren't bought and paid for. The best thing that can happen now is we get together and get the sellouts in the middle out of office and defeat their schemes.
The progressive ship has sailed away from Obama Island. People say it's this situation; I contend they'd already had it with Snowden being labelled a traitor. So, let's get together and make new friends for now and fight the honest fight between conservative and liberal ideologies when and if the US can be saved.
Alan Grayson has been on MSNBC dozens of times saying that Republicans wanted to defeat and now repeal Obama-care because ‘they want you to die’.
He was booted in 2010 but regained his seat in 2012.
But stirring up Dems to oppose Obama is a good idea.
Blabber mouths....
I have good friends on the other side of the fence. Way on the other side. Leftist, Marxists and some Socialists. All old college chums. We normally do not talk politics, or quietly listen to each other without comment. We value our friendship and do not jeopardize it.
I was there once.
All of them, so far, do not support this conflict. They are genuinely puzzled at the president’s take on it and none want to be involved. If there is EVER an issue to unite the country this is it. Go Rand!
...Secretary of State John Kerry couldn't be reached for comment.
Well we aren't...they've been Communists for decades.
And the left thinks true conservatives have sold out to crazed globalist bent on destroying freedom. We all have to put that aside for awhile.
Saw Tulsi Gabbard give an interview .... she was terrific on this issue (she’s definitely a Democrap on most other issues). She is currently a Military Police Company Commander with the Hawaii Army National Guard, and has served on two deployments to the Middle East. She made her case based on her military experience not the usual Leftist ‘emotional’ argument - it was devastating to what Obomber wants to do.
The big threat here is Obama and his idiotic policies.
If we have to work with liberals for a while to defeat Obama, then we hold our nose and do it. Whatever it takes to remove the threat.
Then, after the liberals served their usefulness, we can always kick them to the curb again
The national review neo cons wanted war, baby!
“”He was booted in 2010 but regained his seat in 2012””
I didn’t know that. I thought he had lost his seat and was surprised when he showed up on TV.... Hard to keep track of the idiots other idiots put back in Congress..
But the gal from HI doesn’t look like a democrat at all. Much too pretty for that.
WAG the dog to deflect focus from Benghazi
“”We value our friendship and do not jeopardize it.””
That is true friendship. I have a difficult time with my own relatives so you are to be complimented IMO.
I think we all have a problem with some actors whose work we enjoy but deplore their politics thus stay away from their movies.
Gives the story more spice, than to just say that Rand Paul had a meeting in the basement...
Nope, House GOP lost seats 2012 and he won back one of them.
That is why I know better than to depend solely on GOP media for my info. Everyone has an agenda and the info they give you is filtered to it, and yes I mean Rush. Grayson is a cult hero to progressives, esp Sharpton and Schultz who like the barking..
Exactly. Loose lips sink ships, and apparently SOMEBODY needs a strategically-placed Masterlock.
