The Gibson Guitar saga has taken a sinister turn.
It seems that the Department of Justice wasnt satisfied with merely raiding the law abiding factories of Gibson Guitar with armed agents, shutting down their operation costing them millions, and leaving the American company in the dark as to how to proceed without going out of business.
Now, according to CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, agents of the United States government are bluntly informing them that theyd be better off shipping their manufacturing labor overseas.

DOJ Advises Gibson Guitar to Export Labor to MadagascarOkay. Come on. Stop it. This is from The Onion, right?
'series' Gibson needs to cut a TV Commercial NOW and run it before and after Barry's 'Jobs Speech' (snicker). That'd boost Obama approval rating's to an all time .. LOW.
[Don't worry Barry when you hit ZERO the only way is up.]
Send Gibson’s business (jobs) overseas? Apparently Gibson must not be a union shop

Gibson uses mahogany and rosewood from India. They have used this wood (legal) for over 17 years. There was another raid in 2009 (they have yet to get the confiscated wood products back.)
Competitor C F Martin & Co uses the same wood but Chris Martin is a donor to the democratic party, whereas Gibson has supported republicans. The Martin Co has had no action taken against them.
The Gibson company has taken precautions to make sure the wood is legal and approved by both governments.

Well you have some answers but here's how it breaks down to me.
First it's not just the Ebony, but most of the 'exotic' woods Gibson uses on their top line guitars. And per 'international agreements' and STOO-PID™ US Eco-Nazi 'laws', there's 'Good Exotic Wood' (legal) and 'Bad Exotic Wood' (illegal). And to use 'the 'bad exotic wood' you need gobs of paperwork proving that you had it before all the laws and regs went into effect.
In short, it's kind of like 'Blood Diamonds'. There's nothing wrong with them except the source they came from and in what year. Also that Gibson Guitar is getting the shaft from Barry's Gestapo, 'just for kicks'.
Note: I don't understand the whole 'Blood Diamond' baloney either. A 4 Caret Diamond is a 4 Caret Diamond. No matter from where in Africa it came from.
Maybe this is what Obama’s “jobs speech” is going to be about.
regarding the why..... it is the result of tight sphinctered women who have been taught since birth they need to be advocates and make a difference. They are wood advocates.
From what I heard on the radio yesterday, their competition, Martin guitars, are owned by a democrap supporter and uses the same woods and has had no problems from the government like the pub supporting Gibson company does. No politics going on here, no sir.
Good guess, they're not.
And the workers LIKE IT that way.
Mark Levin interviewed the Gibson CEO on his show Tuesday night. Amazing what that company is going through. At the end Mark nails it, asks the CEO if Gibson is a union shop - NO, asks if his competitors are union - YES.
This is sheer lunacy!
Lots of tyranny in the news this week...
:-) Yep, prolly so.
And if they ever went into a 'rain forest' (Jungle) where all this exotic wood grows, in a nanosecond they'd be crying like a baby to be taken back to 'civilization' asap.
I'd guess the odds are 98% of them all have a BA in 'Environment' or 'Ecology', with a Minor in 'Wymen Studies' ;-)
Thanks for the morning laugh!
best move you could make
get yourself a lp custom or a standard.
not the cheaper models
I’m still confused on this. I thought the issue was about importing wood from India, so why are the Feds telling them to move their operations to Madagascar? What does Madagascar have to do with India?
It turns out that Gibsons CEO Henry E. Juszkiewicz is a Republican donor. But the CEO of C.F. Martin & Company one of Gibsons main competitors and another user of the East Indian Rosewood is a big Democratic donor.
This whole raid really is that simple.

The only donations I’ve found were from 1996. They donated a total of $4,000 to the NRSC.
