Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain acceptable health insurance coverage and who choose not to pay the bills new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.
In response to the JCT letter, Camp said: This is the ultimate example of the Democrats command-and-control style of governing buy what we tell you or go to jail. It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.
Key excerpts from the JCT letter appear below:
H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax. [page 1]

If the government determines that the taxpayers unpaid tax liability results from willful behavior, the following penalties could apply [page 2]

I don’t really see the connection to what my response was.
Are you sure you’re replying to the right person?
Anyway, ayres is one of zero’s scumbag friends who needs to be disposed of, and yes, I’d rather go to jail than give our liberal left 15 grand.
Absolutley!
Everyone who consumed alcohol during prohibition were criminals. My parents, my grandparents and everyone they knew. I don’t know what the population was during the 30’s, but I’m sure most Americans were technically criminals.
The government has learned nothing. Trying to control a population of freedom loving people cannot work for any period of time before a revolt occurs.
If the Senate passes this unconstitutional bill, I can only imagine how many newly created criminals will revolt.
Good for you!
We also have 3 kids, 2 sons and a daughter all in their early 20s and they are all conservative also. We didn’t have to push them to become conservative either, they figured it out by themselves.
I also stated in a previous post that I would go to jail before I give zero and his criminal party 15 grand of my hard earned money since I will refuse to but a government health insurance policy.
It was are you sure you want to go to this particular jail. I see this “health care program” as a political purge operation. Thus the Ayres reference.
Got it.
I see the 15 grand as a threat, and I don’t take easily to threats. My rant about going to jail was more sarcasim than anything else because I really don’t think anyone will go to jail over this. There just aren’t enough jails to hold all of the people who feel as strongly about this as I do.
But bottom line and honestly, yes, I would go to jail before I’m forced to buy a government run health care policy, of course they’d have to find me first. I just won’t participate in it.
I think this part of the bill (similar to federally funded abortions) is a negotiation tactic. They put these crazy things in there, so they can negotiate them away later. When negotiating you always ask for more than you want and for things you don’t care about - so you can give them up later while getting something in return. This will give them the appearance of being bipartisan while still getting the majority of the bill passed. IMHO, we shouldn’t focus too much on the singular details, but on the totality of the Unconstitutional nature of this bill.
It's like many times when I see those left wing sheep with their bumper sticker slogans and I ask them a few questions the give them some facts on Govt run health care.
Never an answer.
Have you ever lived under a health care run by a Govt?
I have and I know what it is like , in your American words it sucks.
If you want this Govt run health care then do you want longer times to see a Doc?
Do you want to wait longer for operations?
Do you want to be told you cannot have certain procedures done because the Govt thinks it is too costly and they know more than the Doc?
That is what will happen under the Govt health care you so much want and while you are supporting a Govt run health you have no clue what so ever care t he real effects of it.
All because you hear D say something you believe it.
Well get this into your head and stop listening to those who have no clue about Govt health care or have never lived under it.
It does not work.
I have known personally family and friends who have died from the Uk health care, .
Just you wait til you have to wait for months to get a primary care Doc, you just wait till your children you have any have to wait for a week before they can get in to see a Doc, you live with your obama cult views then . If you reply back then I will give you examples of a failed system under Govt run health care but I want you to give me examples of how the Govt run health care has been a success.
My apologies — I thought those were rhetorical questions. I’ll respond shortly.
First: I am not for government healthcare (for me anyway -- I can understand if others want it). No, I haven't had government health care. I'm still too young for Medicare and make too much money for Medicaid. In fact, I am self-employed and pay for my own insurance (currently, my premiums (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) cost me slightly more than $10,000 per year, some of which is tax deductible as a business expense). I once added up how much I have paid in medical insurance premiums since I became self-employed 25 years ago. What a shock: it was close to $170,000!
As to doctors visits: I have long wait times for everything, except my annual OB/GYN visit, which is usually scheduled long in advance. It took me more than a month to see dermatologist for a full-body rash! I couldn't get a quick appointment to see my primary care doctor when I had what I thought was a bad sinus infection. I got so sick that my husband took me to the ER. It was a sinus infection PLUS pneumonia, and part of my left lung had collapsed.
Another time, my insurance company got into a fight with my maxillofacial surgeon, who was to remove a tumor from my right paranasal sinus. The insurance company argued it was a dental procedure, even though dentists do not perform the procedure! This dispute went on for weeks. All the time I'm thinking: Hey guys, I've got this tumor growing in my head. The surgeon was kind enough to give me a huge discount on the surgery, which I paid for out of my savings. Good news: the tumor was benign.
Maybe I'm just unlucky with doctors. And I do live in NJ, where it takes forever to get appointments for car mechanics, haircutters, dentists, and doctors because it's just so crowded here.
now firstly
thank you for your answers and it does come across as you support this Govt take over .
Anyway thank you for the answers
Here’s m y thought to your long lines and waits
If you think it is bad now just wait till millions , yep millions of folks join on the lines, we say Queue’s .
Think about it, millions seeing Docs, and no extra Docs . the lines are going to be massive for everything. as it is in the UK.
Look at the stats for cancer in the UK. It is awful and i know folks who have died because they had to wait with their cancer, I will be damned if I sit around in this great country and see it slide into a Uk way.
People who support this think it sounds great, health care for all bla bla but here is the problem they cannot think or understand.
One person goes to Doc because of a headache, nothing more just a tiny headache or they are using this to get off work.
They now have taken the place of someone who really needs to see the Doc, put that on a bigger scale and more and more folks will die like in the UK.
Many will leave their work insurance and I know some who have said they will . Well that means now the insurance company will not have as much money coming in thus them increasing their fees.
Insurance company not as much money comong in so they lay off workers.
This is not about helping, this is about Govt taking over/. Honestly think about it.
If it were to help the public and needy then why wait till after the election of 2012? Do it now then .
Because obama knows it will not work but by then he is elected again and there is nothing we can do .
They say they will pay out of fraud , well why not deal with fraud right now , why wait?
Because they will not deal with the fraud.
I swear I know how Govt runs health care and it is awful and then think about anything I mean anything what Govt runs with.
It all fails, this will not cost just over 1 trillion it will be massive, into the trillions like every thing the Govt runs .
Decent Docs like in the Uk are leaving or have left to come here or Australia because they work long hours and make peanuts.
This the Uk brings in third world Docs who cannot even understand English, pus the nurses are the same.
My mother was in hospital this year
3 hours for an ambulance, she then shared a ward with 15 other woman , no privacy, no personal TV no phone no nothing.
Just a big room with 15 other women.
The Doc was no on duty except emergency because the Uk cannot afford to have Docs on at weekends .
Her nurse was from elsewhere who non of the patients could understand and she could not understand them.
She had little English and had to translate though signs with hands like thirsty.
As for you waiting well, I can only guess that you seem to be picking wrong Docs or something.
I have lived up north down south and I have never had a problem infact when I first came here I remember phoning home and saying how you can get to see a Doc within a week .
My sister had to wait 5 months to to get a check up.
Anyone who supports this is either dumb, in the obama cult or have not done their own homework IMHO.
For if they had they would know the the questions are not being addressed and the facts are against obama and the Dems.
Listen how can those vote for a bill who have not even read the damn thing and yet we have stupid ignorant voters out there who vote for these buffoons
voting for a bill you have not read is stupid but voting for the person who does that is pure insanity
A GREAT DEAL ‘could’ have been made of this blatantly totalitarian/Communist exercise of total control and domination: unfortunately, the opportunity seems to have been lost and faded away. Taking nothing away from (R)s like Camp, who at least POINTED IT OUT, what usually happens with ‘details’ like this , is that they are EXPOSED, brought to light, and if the light gets too bright and people start buzzing about this outrage, then the authors of the bill backtrack, retract it, spin it away, or
hope it gets forgotten. This little detail ALONE, should be enough both to SINK this bill in the public mind, AND to highlight once and for all JUST WHO THEY ARE, AND WHAT THEY ARE UP TO. Fines, fees, and punishments. THat’s the Left in FOUR WORDS.

Comedian, how does the saying go?
“I like your mind......”
SCREW YOU NANCY AND ALL OF THE HORSES YOU CAME IN ON!
Pelosi is from san francisco. It is suppose to be “...and screw the horses..”
This is just like what the plantation owners were doing to the slaves post Civil War.
Create massive debt to create defact slaves even though the law prohibited it.
“This is just like what the plantation owners were doing to the slaves post Civil War.
Create massive debt to create defact slaves even though the law prohibited it.”
More like creating Share-Croppers for eternity.
And those Share-Croppers included black and white people.
Anyone alive not many years from now will “own their souls to the
company store”
And the only company store will be the Federal one.
If we don’t “stand and fight” NOW.
As Reagan said, we’ve got to do something NOW or condemn future generations
to endless slavery.
(and, a friendly note: it’s “de facto” slaves.)
Thank you. I'd love to stay and chat, but I heard about a wholesale lot of fine rope going on sale. And considering the vote on Saturday, I need lots and lots of the stuff. Since I'm not made of money, I have to keep an eye open for bargains.
The requirements continue to vote, and are outstripping supply, you see...
I like where your head is at on this.
“””I dont think Pelosi and anybody who votes for this understand the danger they are putting themselves into. Im not going to comment further than that and let others speculate. I carefully choose my words and generalize”””
I am speaking politically. Anybody who votes for this will have a ruined career.
