PELOSI: Buy a $15,000 Policy or Go to Jail
http://republicans.waysandmeans.house.gov ^

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

In response to the JCT letter, Camp said: “This is the ultimate example of the Democrats’ command-and-control style of governing – buy what we tell you or go to jail. It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.”

Key excerpts from the JCT letter appear below:

“H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax.” [page 1]

“If the government determines that the taxpayer’s unpaid tax liability results from willful behavior, the following penalties could apply…” [page 2]

“Criminal penalties

By all rights, if this scam gets passed- there shoudl be a massve country-wide protest where all people healthy enough to do so, drop their health insurance and DEMAND that congress repeal the bill post haste- but of course, there won’t be

Easy pardner!!! be careful....let’s be smart and wait..do not allow the left to quote comments like yours (out of context, of course) and pigeonhole us ...even if this bill passes, it still has to go to the next chamber and then be signed by the president...then the legal challenges will commence, and the SCOTUS will have to decide on the CONSTITUTIONALITY of it...IF and WHEN the SCOTUS decides to validate or invalidate this UNCONSTITUTIONAL BILL, then drastic measures can be taken...but let’s be smart and wait!

Texans, dear Nancy will not be giving you $15,000 to buy an insurance health care policy, nor will they go gently to jail. Come and take it, Nancy. (You'd better bring more than a hundred and fifty Mexicans this time.) Come and take it

Mike Gallagher (talk show host) reports that Pelosi insisted on her own Boeing 757 to fly non-stop from Wash. to SF, Cal. rather than the smaller private jet that had to refuel. The Air Force had to supply a 200 pass. jet to accomodate her and her family over and back each week. Cost? $ 60,000 per flight in fuel or $ 6,192,000 in JP3. And our troops are deprived of a transport to fly heroes home. Unbelievable.

How do these crazies force this stuff on the public?

If, by any chance, there happen to be any IRS criminal enforcement special agents in the house. How do you feel about putting your ass on the line to collect Nancy Pelosi’s health insurance fines?

The bill includes a provision that allows them to take funds directly out of your checking and savings accounts via electronic fund transfers.

When all of this is over, and the US healthcare system is in shambles, I certainly hope that charges are brought against Pelosi and her cabal for crimes against humanity. She’s going to throw Americans in jail for resisting her unconstitutional edicts. I see little reason to spare her the same fate.

But the plan is this won’t allow any Atlas Shrugging.

Then in such case the response should be Henry Bowman, not John Galt.

Civil War 2 is inevitable. Stock up on essentials, including ammo.

OK so I cannot afford to pay for a plan so I get fined....

No. Financial inability to pay for insurance is not considered "willful behavior" [see posted article] and thus you would not be subject to fines. (This is different from, say, car insurance. The state doesn't care whether you can or cannot afford car insurance, you just damn well better be insured.)

Inability to pay for insurance will get you into Medicaid (or Medicare, if you're old enough) or into the public option. It will get your dependent children into S-CHIP or something like S-CHIP.

This is somewhat how the Japanese manage it: Everyone has to be insured, whether it's through work or their version of the public option. Even foreign visitors in the country for extended stays (usually 6 months) must buy their own insurance or they get booted out.

Are you so sure about that? Is this going to be the place that Billy the Bomber (and one of Zero’s best buddies) Ayres recommended - those who can not be re-educated need to be disposed of? I believe Billy the Bomber floated the number of about 25 million.

Many people, myself included, are converting excess funds into physical gold. It's kind of hard to get that by EFT.

no kitty you have it wrong but that is what I do hear all the time from the left.

I am not working but do decide to get a business going. I cannot afford health care plan right now as I am starting out.

Thus the Govt, or should I say this radical left wing Govt will now tell me that I will now be fined.

Maybe you do not know this but there is a group of folks who are just above medicaid or refuses it because they feel they should not depend on the Govt from handouts(shame many on the left don’t think like that).

That group is being lost I am one as everyone around here are.

The revolt will continue. Only in a more serious manner. First, we’ll stop paying taxes. I’ve already instructed my husband to file his taxes as a single, since I’m not working, I don’t care, I’m stopping as much gov intrusion as much as I can. I’ve also told my adult kids, I’m not abiding by anything they pass, expect me to go to jail. My youngest, 23, is calling congress the commies! I’ve raised 3 fabulous conservative daughters (the others, 26 is an Iraqi vet, and 27), and they are all married to conservative men. I’m so blessed!

no kitty you have it wrong but that is what I do hear all the time from the left.

I'm quoting directly from the posted article, that is, from the letter issued by the Republican House Ways and Means Committee. "Willful" is the term used in the letter, and they even cite the specific page it appears on in the the bill.

I guess I'm silly for actually reading the posted articles and the links they contain.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the word "willful." What does "willful" mean to you?
