Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.

The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

I don't recall who said it, nor which channel it was on, but somebody on TV stated that one of the factors used to determine if something is a terrorist incident is if there are simultaneous attacks.

I'd sure like to know what the other factors are, particularly now that talking heads are calling the Dr. Malik Hasan PSYCHIATRIST a "typical" Lone Wolf Attack.

Update 5:26 News Channel 25’s Natasha Chen has learned the suspected shooter Maj. Malik Hasan had “Allah” keyed into his car last week. He reported it as a hate crime.

Update: 5:25 We’re waiting for the latest updates from Fort Hood at a 5:45 press conference.

Update 5:22 Scott & White released the following statement “Scott & White Memorial Hospital has received 9 gunshot victims from Fort Hood. More are expected No specifics are known regarding the incident resulting in the shootings. At this time the victims coming to Scott and White are suffering from wounds. We have nothing else at this time. All patients are adults.

All Scott & White facilities remain open and Scott & White hospital operations are continuing. The Emergency Department however, is NOT accessible to visitors at this time.”

Update 5:18 A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at First Memorial Baptist Church at 4001 Trammier Road.

Update 5:17 Belton ISD students are now home.

Update 5:15 Metroplex Adventist Hospital received seven of the victims. One was under distress in route to the hospital and was later pronounced dead. Two are currently in surgery, one of which is an EMS paramedic. Four have been stabilized. Two were transferred to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple and two have been transferred to Seton in Round Rock.

Update 5:10 Temple ISD has canceled after school activities and sporting events.

Update 5:09 AP & ABC reporting shooting suspect , Maj Malik Hasan was a Army mental health professional who was preparing to deploy.

Update 4:56 Fort Hood is still on lockdown.

Update 4:53 Scott & White Hospital reports it has 9 soldiers who were transferred from Darnall Army Hospital; 4 are in operating rooms, 5 are in the ER for evaluation, 10 are on the way from Darnall to Scott & White. Scott & White is making accommodations for all of the families. Patients who were already at Scott & White are being rearranged.

It is being revealed that Hasan was an Army psychiatrist previously at Walter Reed?! If this is accurate, it's additional evidence for my theory that most people in the psychiatric field are nuts themselves.
