MSNBC is having an on air meltdown over a man their camera crew videotaped openly carrying a handgun at an anti-Obama protest in Portsmouth, New Hampshire this morning near where Barack Obama will be holding a town hall meeting later today.
MSNBC showed footage of the man with the gun openly holstered to his right leg. He was holding a large sign with words about the tree of liberty.
The Portsmouth police chief informed MSNBC the man was legally armed.
The man was reportedly standing with a group of protesters on the property of a church.
More as this develops.
I don't think his argument is supported by evidence.
How is "negative publicity" among a bunch of rabid gun-haters a "bad thing?"
In multiple cases in Virginia, the Norfolk PD has been slapped down, and in two cases wrote lawsuit settlement checks totaling $25,000 to two people who they harassed for open carrying.
Another lawsuit in New Orleans was settled for an undisclosed sum. Here in New Hampshire, the Manchester PD has been slapped repeatedly for open carry harassment, culminating in public criticism during their CALEA accreditation hearings - a video is linked here. I think they're finally getting the message.
I can say from a position of knowledge that the only reason that the Portsmouth police chief did nothing more than say "he is legally armed" is because of the efforts of open-carry activists across the state, punishing police whenever they harass law-abiding citizens exercising their Article 2a rights and making sure that all the other police know about it. Because two or three years ago, Portsmouth cops would have assaulted him or otherwise violated his civil rights just like Manchester cops have done repeatedly over the past five years.
The enactment of a shall-issue concealed carry licensing law in Ohio came about ONLY because of and organized campaign of open carry.
And I think that map of carry law reform, with firearms freedom spreading nationwide over the years, speaks for itself, highlighting the efforts of both concealed and open carry activists.
How is anything going to change if nobody ever knows that someone else is armed? Why should they refrain from banning guns if they can easily assume from visual evidence that nobody ever carries them?
If it's so easy to take a gun form someone and use it against them, why don't we just arm all the criminals so we can just take their guns when we need shoot them? That make any sense to you?
Who’s holding the “party” up there? Do you all actually have a rep. that is holding these hearings — we’re a little to the South of you (Central WI) — our reps aren’t even doing that last I checked.
Being here in New Hampshire, I can positively GUARANTEE you that he was not the only one armed. MSNBC flacks probably just panicked too much to notice anyone other than the first armed person they saw.
Wearing a sidearm only means that you're going to engage in a firefight in the minds of psychotic anti-gun nuts. The whole "blood in the streets, shootouts over parking spaces" claptrap they trot out every time a state goes shall-issue.
BFL
In Texas, it’s also against the law to carry a firearm to a public political gathering.
Texas doesn’t always have the answers. We have a long way to go to compete with places like this, Alaska and Vermont.
It's racism I tell ya:)
Apparently not.
So am I and they are wrong. SHAME ON THEM!
Maybe he is a SEIU thug placed in front of the camera for just the kind of reaction the MSM is sure to give this.
I turned to Messnbc at the top of the hour, they touched on the man with the gun story.......
Said his name is William Kostrick (sp?) and he will be on Chrissy’s show this evening. 5pm central time......
Should be a good one!
Po-bucker was apparently on Matthew’s show just now. Any video of it?
Eagle river and rhinlander were asked to come to a rally for the other side. (pro zero).
I got a note from the wisconsin website ‘wisconsinlady’
When you sign up on FR and choose which state you are from on your FR account you get state news.

Malicious persecution is also a crime.
Correct for federal definition. But it's not really their call. Varies by state. New Hampshire is anyone over 18, both men and women apparently.
IV. The unorganized militia shall consist of all able-bodied residents of the state who are 18 years of age or older, who are, or have declared their intention to become, citizens of the United States, and who are not serving in the national guard or the state guard.
Texas is 18-60, and also includes all able bodied men and women, including aliens who intend to become citizens, save a few public officials.
Chrissy gets his ass handed to him again... Good job William...
