CPAC Chairman: Palin Not Ready for Presidential Run
Thursday, July 9, 2009 8:27 AM
By: Ronald Kessler
Sarah Palin needs to stop whining about unfair media coverage and get over the fact that some people dont like her, Dave Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, tells Newsmax.
Palin doesnt seem to get that politics is a tough game, says Keene, one of the countrys most astute political observers.
The American Conservative Union, with 1 million members, runs the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington and publishes an annual "Rating of Congress," the gold standard for ideological assessments of members of Congress.
Youve got to recognize that there are people who want you to fail, Keene says. And if you spend your time worrying about them, or whining about what they say, at the very least itll get you off your game, because you ought to be worried about what youre going to do, not about what theyre going to do to you.
Resigning as governor of Alaska only compounded Palins problems, which have been accumulating since the November election, Keene says.
In the period leading up to the resignation, she needed to get over the fact that people didnt like her, Keene says. Get over the fact that she harbored resentment for the McCain people that used her. All of those things are true, but she got more out of it than they did, and she had to begin to move on with what she needed to establish in terms of her own image, to move to the next level. And she delayed doing that.
"Now it becomes more difficult because of the way in which she bailed out on the governorship.
Then he stupidly added, "Resigning as governor of Alaska only compounded Palins problems, which have been accumulating since the November election," Keene says.
Well, DUH: What the hell does he think she resigned for? Oh, that's right she truthfully "whined" that all of the lying 'ethics' complaints lodged against her were taking up an unconscionable amount of her and her staff's time answering that garbage, costing the taxpayers millions of dollars to defend against. But then she made an unfogiveable mistake; she further "whined" that it had also cost her and her family about %500,000.00 up to now, and unbearable mental suffering. But then, that's a personal matter, and makes that and everything else "whining."
Yes she should have just rolled over, pulled herself up into the fetal position, and let the perverted jackasses, like Letterman and the rest of the lying pigs, have a field day calling her and her family lowlife, filthy trailer-trash.
Well, sport, I don't buy thatcrap. She's come out fighting; and God help those assholes if they keep it up. She has warned them. Now, I hope she sues and takes away everything they have.
And, I'll tell you something else -- I sure as hell wouldn't want her after me.
Prediction; Kessler appoligizes for remarks before Tuesday.
That long?
Look, I spend quite a bit of time here. If you look at my history, I don’t jump on every thread about Palin and go nuts.
I really like Sarah, she connects, shes probably a lot smarter than she is given credit for. People on our side of the aisle that don’t like her pick on her because she hasn’t lived and breathed Beltway politics. That in itself is why everyday people like her.
Look at our government now. It is inhabited by all kinds of self agrandizing nimwits that have been to all the great institutions of higher learning. Just look at the incompetence and failure they have wrought. They have destroyed America. They refuse to indict themselves for gross failure. people are sick of all of them.
Sarah is a smart lady, my best guess she will have herself in gear for the next office she seeks.
Don’t confuse genuine enthusiasm for a promising candidate with worship. I am glad to see people finding a person to get behind. God knows we have nothing else but a passel of non starters and past rejects otherwise.
And screw socialized medicine MitCare Romney, too, and his MittBots and the horses they rode in on!
If your "reality" doesn't recognize that Palin is doing what you infer she is not doing, you are not living in reality.
At this moment in time, Sarah Palin defines Conservatism.
Those that criticize her are those whining for attention. They know that to draw attention to themselves they have to invoke the name of Sarah Palin.
"Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts."
I think folks are quick to step to her defense on account of two things:
1. Republican establishment throwing her overboard.
2. WH coordination of the smear campaign against Palin, including the use of astroturfers and trolls to spread rumors and b.s.
Probably right.
Probably shouldn’t run until 2012.
“Outgoing Governor Palin doesn’t represent these views as eloquently stated by the Founder of FR?”
Don’t think she even missed one, did she? Got anyone else out there to vote for that rates this high? Looking for a good VP to support...IF she decides to run ;^)
Because so far, the criticism of Palin has been leveled personally, her way of life, the state she represents, or in terms of political speculation.
Where is the criticism of her record?
It’s raises, suspicion, certainly. But there are legit reasons why someone might have donated to Specter; trying to protect fillibuster numbers, for example - nobody knew he was going to switch parties back then.
But this is beside the point: the fact is that these days, a lot of FReepers are ready to turn on ANYBODY, whatever their resume, principles, or bona fides, if they show even a hint of questioning whether Sarah Palin is the savior of conservatism and the country. Look at any thread where someone criticizes her or even expresses skepticism and watch the instant excoriation they receive, the recitation of the “Beltway insider/elitist/RINO/Romney supporter” mantras.
Now who’s whining, stevie?
See, I don't go in for worshipping politicians at all, any politician. That's where we differ.
Hahahaha...good post.
I am a supporter of Sarah’s. I don’t put her on a pedestal, I support her political views and what she stands for, just like many people here do. You talk about Palin supporters ticking you off, well, I get just as angry when Romney supporters come here calling her “stupid” and other words I won’t repeat here. It works both ways. If someone wants to criticize her for her political views that is fine by me, but when it gets personal and they bash her family and call her names, that is just plain wrong, especially coming from Republicans.
Will she run for President in 2012, who knows, that is not my decision to make for her, but I support her in whatever decision she does make, she has been through hell, I think you can even agree with that. She is a mother first, Governor second. She saw her money being wasted on these bogus charges which were NEVER gonna go away, she has a family to raise, a son in Iraq fighting for our freedom right now, a child with down syndrome, that is her priority, she saw she was in a no-win situation. Either run her state or run out of money, which would you do?
Instead of us all fighting and bashing, how about we put the focus on who are funding these people who are filing these ethics complaints. If Sarah were a Democrat the media would be checking their bank accounts, but because she is a Republican they refuse to do it.
There are a few potential Vyshinskys present on this thread. Good thing the sentences will be electronic only.....
I’m simply point out who has chosen to deliberately track dog crap into our host’s guest room.
And yet if someone so much as suggests she won’t be ready to run in 2012—not in response to Palin herself, since she hasn’t said she would, but in response to the numerous calls of “Palin 2012!” on this site—you’ll be the first to attack him.
I don't understand. Since when did supporting someone be labeled in cult-like or religious terms?
As had been said before, when only one viewpoint is accepted, the result is either zealotry or hypocrisy.
Then debate her record as Governor. Not the way she looks, Alaska, her family, or why she resigned. I don't hear any of these "critics" talking about her record, do you?
She has a lot of time to prepare for a run. At least I hope soI would prefer not to have a 4-year long campaign for the presidency.
The 2008 presidential election began right after the mid-terms in 2006.
Steve-B,
your posting history demonstrates you are Romney-trolling and being an instigator on these Palin Threads. Don’t be surprised when other posters call you on your limp-wristed, flaming moderate postings. Regards
John
