I don't understand. Since when did supporting someone be labeled in cult-like or religious terms?
As had been said before, when only one viewpoint is accepted, the result is either zealotry or hypocrisy.
Then debate her record as Governor. Not the way she looks, Alaska, her family, or why she resigned. I don't hear any of these "critics" talking about her record, do you?
She has a lot of time to prepare for a run. At least I hope soI would prefer not to have a 4-year long campaign for the presidency.
The 2008 presidential election began right after the mid-terms in 2006.
Her record is somewhat hard to criticize, for a number of reasons.
1) She was governor for only 2 1/2 years. By design. Before that, she was a mayor of a small town.
2) Many of her accomplishments that I know of are Alaska-specific and difficult to analyze except for through a Last-Frontier-lens. She was successful in her dealings with oil companies and the pipelines from what I understand.
3) When she entered the national scene, she had been governor for what, 1 1/2 years? Much of her time governing has been either campaigning for McCain, or alterating between heroine-worship and demonizing, depending on the audience.
4) She has been hampered down by ethics issues—I won’t comment on the merit of them because I honestly don’t know the details.
5) I truly don’t know much about her record, and rarely see any reference to specifics.
For me, it appears that much of what draws people to her is her personality.
What is Sarah’s record? I truly want to know. Perhaps then I will be able to better understand the level of dedication to her.
