CPAC Chairman: Palin Not Ready for Presidential Run
Thursday, July 9, 2009 8:27 AM
By: Ronald Kessler
Sarah Palin needs to stop whining about unfair media coverage and get over the fact that some people dont like her, Dave Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, tells Newsmax.
Palin doesnt seem to get that politics is a tough game, says Keene, one of the countrys most astute political observers.
The American Conservative Union, with 1 million members, runs the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington and publishes an annual "Rating of Congress," the gold standard for ideological assessments of members of Congress.
Youve got to recognize that there are people who want you to fail, Keene says. And if you spend your time worrying about them, or whining about what they say, at the very least itll get you off your game, because you ought to be worried about what youre going to do, not about what theyre going to do to you.
Resigning as governor of Alaska only compounded Palins problems, which have been accumulating since the November election, Keene says.
In the period leading up to the resignation, she needed to get over the fact that people didnt like her, Keene says. Get over the fact that she harbored resentment for the McCain people that used her. All of those things are true, but she got more out of it than they did, and she had to begin to move on with what she needed to establish in terms of her own image, to move to the next level. And she delayed doing that.
"Now it becomes more difficult because of the way in which she bailed out on the governorship.
“Its like watching a DU thread...
So that’s where you get all your information.”
Romney-trolls like steve-b remind me of the garlic and fish scented Massengill douche. Acrid and not able to be tolerated for more than a couple seconds, not to mention totally unnecessary with there being so many other better scents available.
That being said, Sarah Palin has changed the mood and excitement level of conservatives. The first six months of this year have been filled with lament and resignation her at FR, as we watch freedom, and our way of life attempt to be boldly stolen from us. Sarah has changed my mood, and given me hope that this ridiculous -8bama train can in fact be stopped.
I take it you don't spend much time on Free Republic...
“Gee, sure looks like she made a HORRIBLE mistake, huh?”
Great rundown...acording to the asshats in RINO world, she should have gone BK (because THEY weren’t gonna help) with penny ante lawsuits.

"As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.
Outgoing Governor Palin doesn't represent these views as eloquently stated by the Founder of FR?
This is a crock of sh!t! The next 535 people down any street in America would do better than congress has lately. As for the president -- give me anybody who does not have roots in washington dc.
She confirmed that she will be speaking to CPAC in person, Keene says. Then her office said she was going to be there, they were just working out the logistics. Then all of a sudden she couldnt be there. At the last minute she was going to do a videotape. We dont usually do that, but we said OK. Then it turned out they couldnt get the videotape done, they couldnt figure out how to do it or something. And so she just didnt come. Now that was our instance, and it also happened to a number of other groups.
Now we know why the anti-Palinism. She ruffled their poor little feathers. Screw them. Invite Mitt next time.”
And in the resignation and interviews that followed, she explained that there were alot of these appearances she couldn’t do because of the threat of more ethic complaints. Dave Keene-Latest Inductee to the International Criminal Gang of Bass-turds
Dear CPAC
When your next event comes around next year you will have noticed that Sarah Palin has been attracting record crowds when when speaks, far and above any politician.
If you wish to have her speak at your event, please start your negotiations now as her fees will be astronomical by January of 2010.
Groveling would help also
Thanks
Dr. Zoo, Institute of Phenomonology Political Consulting, MSU, for Sarah Palin
A little over a year ago, the “majority of Freepers” were getting Chris Matthews tingles down their legs for Fred Thompson. That worked out so well...
Bumping cause he's a Romulan and he's ticked off because Sarah couldn't make the last CPAC (probably would have been another ethics suit). They should change their event to RINOPAC.
Thank you for further proving his point.
You guys can’t even address constructive criticism; someone says one word that can possibly be interpreted as criticism of Palin, and he gets burried under a barrage of ad hominems.
One thing turns me off to Palin far more than anything else, and it’s her supporters on this site. I try not to let them affect my opinion of her, since it’s not really fair to her, but it’s hard not to.
Agreed. There is a definite orthodoxy forming around Saint Sarah. As had been said before, when only one viewpoint is accepted, the result is either zealotry or hypocrisy.
She has a lot of time to prepare for a run. At least I hope so—I would prefer not to have a 4-year long campaign for the presidency. Almost anyone’s material would get a bit thin by that point.
I believe the establishment insiders are against Palin. I will say that when I took her to task for what she did last Friday, I thought it would cost her a lot of support. I’ll be honest though, it was my contention that it would cost her Independent and Democrat support down the road in the future.
It wasn’t my contention that she would lose support from well placed Republican and supposedly Conservative office holders and operatives.
I agree with your comments regarding the Washington establishment. It’s evident to me that the beltway ‘moderatism’ goes far beyond anything we imagined. Now they’re willing to adopt the Democrat’s talking points even when it comes to some of our bright developing stars.
That’s nothing but suicidal, unless her destruction wouldn’t hurt your cause. So what is their cause, if not consummate leftist policy? Game over! The gig is up.
Yesterday I posted what I thought was an interesting point comparing Presidential elections in the U.S. to the elections in the U.S.S.R. Yes, the Soviet citizens did get to vote. They just voted for one of two people within the same party.
Well, guess what. What are we doing if not the same exact thing?
Can anyone tell me that the election in 2008 was anything other than voting for one of two people running from the same party?
Our Presidential elections are meaningless. We are no better off than the people in the U.S.S.R. were.
The Republican party has so defiled it’s early primaries, that you couldn’t get a Conservative elected. And so it goes.
Our media has become Pravda. Our Presidential elections have adopted the U.S.S.R. model. One could argue that ACORN is akin to the activist body of the Politburo too.
Gooed Morninske Amerikans...
You must’ve missed her Friday presser. She first listed her accomplishments and then said that she couldn’t do any more for the state because the vast majority of her time was going to defend herself from ethics complaints to say nothing of how much it was costing *the state*. Since the dummycrats had decided to use the Alaska Governor’s office as their litter box, she was going to change their game plan.
I hope that makes it clear. Her resignation had nothing to do with her being thin-skinned.
Yup, we're at the heart of it.
This is just about the most unprofessional thing I've ever seen out of the so-called conservative establishment. If Keene truly meant to offer constructive criticism, he would have said this to Gov. Palin in private. Instead, he makes a pathetic attempt to kneecap her in public.
What a disgrace. Ronald Reagan, who put this operation on the map with some of his greatest speeches, would be ashamed of what has become of CPAC.
Here's one more.
And the words "you guys" tells me you are not one of us. Newbie.
If you can find me an elected Republican, who is a potential presidential candidate, who is taking on the Obama administration head-on and defending conservative principles, then let me know and I'll worship him/her too.
