Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, is saying for the first time that he thinks the GOP won't push for a filibuster on Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to succeed David Souter on the Supreme Court.
"The nominee has serious problems," Sessions said on CNN Wednesday morning. "But I would think that we would all have a good hearing, take our time and do it right. And then the senators cast their vote up or down based on whether or not they think this is the kind of judge that should be on the court. ... I don't sense a filibuster in the works."
Sessions said it was still possible he could support Sotomayor, who has drawn serious flak from conservative groups.

I wasn’t aware that she had had a confirmation hearing as of yet.

And amazingly, Obama voted against both.
Another example of his “moderate” nature.

Have very irrational! That was worthy of the most stealthy democrap agitprop ever to spittle forth at FR.

The more I read about her, the more I think she might be the best pick we could hope for.
Obama IS going to get an underqualified, activist, affirmative action elevated, statist on the court. May as well be one this compartively ineffective and addled.
She'll always vote on the left side of any issue, but who will win the debate to win over the fence sitters - when it's Sotomayor vs. Scalia?

Seems like Sessions is not the man that we thought he is. Ah, we have been fooled again! The GOP leaves us flat.

Ken Starr, like GWB and others, sits around waiting for a Democrat to pat him on the back, and they never do.

But it is the knuckle draggers in the hills who keep renominating these listless GOP senators.

Why the hell not?
If this woman isnt opposable, who the hell would be?
She could only get 11 of 44 opinion to agree with her on four of her cases reviewed by the SCOTUS. If she cant do better than a 25% approval rate, shes unfit to serve on that court.
Take any person, who is only doing 25% of the right things in just about any job, and then propose they are worthy of joining an oversight committed of that job.
Her nomination makes no sense whatsoever.
Very well said. I agree.
Of course, in the typical Lib worldview, everyone gets a 10th place ribbon and there are no winners and losers. Mediocrity is a virtue and everyone is the same.
Remember, the firefighters in CT had their stellar test scores THROWN OUT because they scored too high on the test! This was the case Sotomayor summarily dismissed. She is part and parcel of this mindless lockstep cabal.

Im waiting to see how the mainstream media investigates Sonia Sotomayor compared to its furry over Sarah Palin.
They have already done that, I saw it this morning.
“She was picked by Obama and is non-white female, therefore she may have well been selected by the hand of God himself. Anyone who does not believe this is racist without a doubt. Any republicans who vote against her are racist and risk their seat in the next election.”
(in so many words, thats the jist of what I have read)

Alabama republicans suffer from RINO disease.
Sessions voted to confirm Holder, and I expect the treasonist trend to continue.

Do republicans not realize they are the OPPOSITION PARTY?
/rhetorical question not needing an answer
We do not need to walk across the aisle unless it is to punch them in the nose. OPPOSE FOR GOODNESS SAKES!
