Make sure to check out our ongoing thread for updates about the Regional Convention being held in Orlando on April 25. The convention will be at the spectacular Gaylord Palms hotel and we've gotten a group rate of just $99/night on guest rooms. Updated information will be posted Monday on how to make your reservations.
RG, Convention Chair
Not only that, she'll love all the extraordinary things to see and do in the hotel itself....and the yummy food and the shops and the alligators........oh, the alligators......
She would be made most welcome and be embraced by all our freepers. How we will spoil her......oh, my.

However, someone DID win the Booby Prize! None other than Bushbacker1. His guess didn't come close either, but it was such a brilliant deduction from the clues given, that it deserves recognition and a prize. "Booby Prize" is actually a misnomer in this case.
So, BB, for your great stab in the dark, "Kosher Raisan Bread" (sic) you'll be the recipient of a prize awarded at the end of Saturday's meeting agenda when the mystery prize will be revealed.
The booby prize has a value of about one dollar but it's priceless! Care to guess what it is?
Actually, please don't, LOL.

I want my boobies!

Boiled down, the lady at convention relations said that there was wireless access in all the rooms, but she was not sure of the details.
Perhaps Roos_Girl has a contact with better info.
I was told that there are computers in the rooms.
JimRob just pulled a winning name blind from the cyber hat. The name of the lucky person will be posted here at 9 PM tonight.
Thanks, Jim, for playing! Thanks to all who registered for a room and thus became eligible for the prize.
So, hold on to your seats. Make sure you stop in here at 9 tonght (Eastern) for the revelation of the WINNER! It could be you!

Ok, I hope all of you old FReepers who read that last sentence just puked.
And what's with gonzo getting to crash in Bob's room? Gonzo can crash with the alligators. Heck, they won't eat him, he's too mean.

Congratulations to you, Duke, for being the winner of our Convention Grand Prize Drawing.
Our Conventioner-in-Chief, Jim Robinson pulled your name out of a cyber hat just a short while ago. You'll receive your prize at the convention on Saturday.
Folks, the Duke is one of our most veteran freepers, being on board.......get this......since 1997. He's like a founding father! We're tickled pink you won....and while the prize is not two weeks on the Riviera, it'll be a nice little momento of the wonderful time we're all going to have in Orlando.
First round of drinks on you, Duke!
Leni/MinuteGal
Woo hoo!! Congratulations to The Duke!!
Wish I could be there to have that drink!!
you said you were going to post it at 900PM...you were 56 seconds late. 8P
Leni
Congratulations to The Duke! Sure looking forward to meeting you!
Right now, I am still wondering what that Convention Prize could possibly be! We just have to wait till The Duke opens it on Saturday! Sure was fun guessing!
surfer, you’ve got a big agenda to keep up with on Saturday. I’m not sure you should have pointed out a measly 56 seconds. ;)
Looks like he hasn't seen his ping yet and doesn't know he's da winnah!

Here’s the reply I got from the hotel regarding wireless:
There is wireless access inside the guestrooms as well as out by the pools and inside the atrium. You use your guestroom number and checkout date for the username and password. There are computers already in each guestroom as well. The access is included in your room rate. There is no access in the meeting rooms without ordering it.
"Freeper nice casual" is the only criteria. Daytime for men - slacks, shorts, polos, tees fine and dandy. Dinner - casual shirts and slacks.
Freeper-ettes, shorts, slacks for daytime......nice casual pantsuits, slacks, tops for dinner.
You may want to take a midnight dip in the pool.....bring suit and cover-up and appropriate footwear.
And by all means, bring comfortable walking shoes. The hotel is large and there's just gobs of interesting and fun things to do and see.
There are wheelchairs available gratis at the front desk for anyone who needs one at any time.
