President-elect Barack Obama says he and Republican Sen. John McCain plan to work together to "fix up the country."

The two former rivals met in Obama's transition office Monday in Chicago. Rahm Emanuel, Obama's incoming White House chief of staff, participated in the meeting, as did McCain's close friend, South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Translation: “Hi, Barack, I have no resolve, please run over me like a freight train.”

This is good for whom?

Neither of them know what to do.

earth to McCain: the only “work together” the Obamanation wants is for you to push the Demagogue agenda with Republicans, and to attack and berate those who don’t fall into line.

Oh, I guess that’s what you’ve signed on for, huh?

This might sound unpopular but we need less partisan bickering and more solutions. There is nothing wrong with principled opposition and standing up for conservative values but being the minority party means the other side sets the agenda. Look for ways to work w/the new administration to solve problems, protect security, support troops etc. Stand in opposition to expanding spending, expose the BS and propose better ideas for the American public to choose from the next go around.

I’m starting to agree that we need a new conservative party. The Republican party is rotten from the inside out, and the plethora of RINOs are the termites.

When McCain lost to Bush in the 2000 primaries I recall he was quite bitter about it and for some time was prone to criticism of the Bush administration in a rather petulant manner. Yet with Obama, he’s already out there with the raching across the aisle stuff. Which party is it he really belongs in again?

They will both work towards amnesty for illegal immigrants, and this move, alone, will forever ruin this country! What are all law abiding people from within the entire U.S. supposed to seriously do next, besides calling and faxing politicians over and over again (Thank you, NumbersUSA and all others!) about this very damaging issue?

McCain has always fought against the republicans. When he won the nomination he realized that he’d have to start attacking his ‘friends’ on the other side of the aisle.

Soon after he determined that it was better to lose with honor than to fight and win the election by calling out the democrats.

Pathetic - really - but then again, not unexpected by our favorite self-centered sr senator from az.
