FBI Warns of Potential Terror Attacks

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security today issued an analytical "note" to U.S. law-enforcement officials cautioning that al-Qaida terrorists have in the past expressed interest in attacking public buildings using a dozen suicide bombers each carrying 20 kilograms of explosives.

Authors with the U.S. Office of Intelligence and Analysis added that they have "no credible or specific information that terrorists are planning operations against public buildings in the United States." The FBI and DHS analysts said they were releasing the note because "it is important for local authorities and building owners and operators to be aware of potential attack tactics."

According to the note obtained by NBC News, a "recently discovered audio recording of al-Qa‘ida training sessions conducted several years ago provides instruction to potential suicide terrorists on seizing a publicly accessible building and damaging or destroying it with explosive charges." ‘Imad Mughniya Groups Receiving Aid From Iran

Salah Thabet, commander of ‘Imad Mughniya groups in Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, has said that the groups are receiving economic and logistical aid from Iran.

Fatah sources said that some group members were trained by Hizbullah,which last year transferred thousands of dollars to West Bank residents to carry out terror attacks.

Taliban Asks Music Shops In Lahore To Shut Down

According to a report in the Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Jang, the Taliban have sent letters to entertainment and music shops in Pakistan’s cultural city of Lahore to shut down.

The Taliban also warned that if the shops were not closed by October 20, there will be bomb blasts at the entertainment shops. The shopkeepers in Lahore are worried over the Taliban warning.

Shabir Ahmad, the President of traders’ organization the Anjuman-e-Tajiran, said that after the Taliban letter he also received the warning over phone.

ISF find large explosives cache in Salah ad Din
Multi-National Division – North PAO

SALAH AD DIN, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces found a large explosives cache in southern Tikrit, Salah ad Din Oct. 11.

The cache included approximately 700 152mm white phosphorous artillery rounds and over 300 .50 caliber rounds. The cache was reported to Coalition forces who destroyed it in a controlled detonation Oct. 12.

“Getting this many rounds off the street, especially ones with white phosphorous, continues to limit the ability of terrorist to kill and injure the citizens of Iraq,” said Maj. Peggy Kageleiry, a spokesperson for Multi-National Division-North.

IP find IED factory in Mosul
Multi-National Division – North PAO

NINAWA, Iraq – Iraqi Police found an improvised explosive device factory in Mosul Oct. 12.

The factory included two bags of homemade explosives weighing about 150 pounds each, three bags of ammonium nitrate weighing about 10 pounds each and other IED making materials.

In addition to the supplies, IP detained one suspect who was in the vicinity. Iraqi Army and Coalition force Soldiers were brought to the site to help consolidate the materials for disposal.

“This is just another example of the great work the Iraqi Police are doing to make their communities safer,” said Maj. Peggy Kageleiry, spokesperson for Coalition forces north of Baghdad.
