The temperature of the planet is dropping like a stone...(They should have checked with Al first)
Spectator ^ | 4/9/08 | Melanie Phillips

All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASAGISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously. A compiled list of all the sources can be seen...The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years.

“With 2.5 billion more people than the last time things were a bit cool (1970’s), we may be in for mass starvation in some places around the globe.”

Aided and abetted by the global warming alarmists, who pushed us into burning food in vehicles.

You can always put another layer of clothes on. You can’t always take another layer of clothes off.

Given sufficient water crops like it warmer (think rain forest). Most crops don't like it cooler...

Global Climate Change is so much more useful of a theory than Global Cooling or Global Warming.

Is it warmer today than average? It is because of Global Climate Change.

Is it cooler today than average? It is because of Global Climate Change.

Wetter? Dryer? Windier? Cloudier? It doesn't matter!

Whenever there is bad weather anywhere in the world, it is because of Global Climate Change.

Bush is to blame. Bush and those damned SUVs. Women and minorities will be hardest hit.

I’m going to Jackson Hole, WY in a few weeks. It looks like I’ll be flying out of spring and into winter.

Grand Targhee in Idaho (my brother lives in Driggs, ID) has had over 550 inches of snow this year - with a good three weeks left in the snow season.

I skied Grand Targhee on a regular basis when I lived in Idaho Falls from 79 to 83.

With their base at 8000 ft they get a huge amount of powder every winter. I believe 500 inches is their annual average.

With cycle 25 definitely being predicted as the lowest in centuries, if 24 is low, we are likely looking at a Dalton minimum and potentially a Maunder minimum.

We should call the new one the Al Gore Minimum.

That is something I advocate at my company if we do go into a cool cycle. AL GORE DID IT! His offsets worked and we are saved, now get back to work.

I haven’t heard too much complaining. The only complaining I do when I go to Driggs is about the fact that I live in Ohio. God’s country certainly applies to the area around Driggs. I just hope the hippies from Jackson and Libs from CA stayed scared of the locals.

You got that right. They do average @500 inche/year. I have skied there several times and absolutley love it (i.e. it’s not overcrowded).

Apparently Dawn Wells (former Maryanne from Gilligan's Island) runs an art institute in Driggs. The 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid I purchased last year was the very vehicle that Dawn was preparing to buy. I laid down the money first. She drives between Jackson and Driggs and needed a good 4x4 to make the trip. She was recently busted for possession of marijuana in her vehicle.

I've spent just enough time in Ohio to prefer Idaho. The museum at Wright-Patterson is one of my favorite spots in Ohio. I visited the campus of Miami University to grab some items with school insignia for my dad. He graduated from Miami in the late 40s.

That's cool. My brother graduated from Miami of Ohio and took off for Idaho right after graduation. In addition, both my folks retired out of Wright-Patt and I work for a Defense Contractor close to the base. We were all quite interested in the Ghost Hunter's show filmed at the base, which was on last night. You are right about the Air Force museum. It is the most interesting thing around Dayton. Many years ago, my dad jokingly showed me where the Alien bodies were held on the base. It was behind a fenced in area which was labeled with “Lethal Force” signs. He said I could go in, just that I would not live to talk about it. :)

SunkinCiv - this is not a post to you, I just linked off your post.

World Temperatures according to the Hadley Center for Climate Prediction. Note the steep drop over the last year.Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile — the list goes on and on.
No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA’s GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C — a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year’s time. For all four sources, it’s the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn’t itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.

Let’s hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans — and most of the crops and animals we depend on — prefer a temperature closer to 70.

Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

Update 2/27: The graph for HadCRUT (above), as well as the linked graphs for RSS and UAH are generated month-to-month; the temperature declines span a full 12 months of data. The linked GISS graph was graphed for the months of January only, due to a limitation in the plotting program. Anthony Watts, who kindly provided the graphics, otherwise has no connection with the column. The views and comments are those of the author only.

This is the article that this post is referring to...Ya know, to kinda hockeystick back to the original topic...

Anyone ever watched the ‘Day After Tomorrow’? lol...why am I laughing you may ask? Because, that movie was tame compared to what will really happen one of these days, probably not tomorrow though...

If y’all REALLY wanna see something that’ll scare you into not cracking jokes, read this ENTIRE online article at the end of this link. There is no bull crap in it, and it is evidence of a REPEATING cycle that will happen again, SEVERAL TIMES. Or, ya know, y’all can just go back to posting all the old, crappy, boring, worn-out, mindless jokes that have been posted on here for the last 5 years. Whatever, you people are gonna do whatever you want anyway:

Notice how the radicalidiots have all of a sudden changed their retoric from global warming to climate change?
Too hot it is global warming
Too cold it is climate change
Just right it is Bush’s fault.

Gore just changes the problem to fit his carbon credit business that will make him millions of dollars.
As he keeps using more oil to get his chubby self from country to country to make more in speaking fees.

I just hope we are not moving into another Maunder Minimum. With the price of heating fuel, we need those sun spots to keep us warm enough.
