Terror Arrests in Fort Dix Plot FORT DIX, N.J.
May 8, 2007 - Six ethnic Albanians have been arrested in a plot to storm the Fort Dix installation in Burlington County.
Five of the suspects were arrested in Cherry Hill. They will be arraigned later today in federal court. Officials say it will happen in either in Camden or Newark.
Investigators say the suspects planned to use automatic weapons to storm the base and kill solders. The men were lured into a secret meeting to purchase AK-47s from an arms dealer, who was secretly cooperating with the FBI.
Officials say the suspects worked on a number of targets, including the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, Fort Monmouth in Eatontown, and several Coast Guard stations.
Federal agents made the arrests when the suspects zeroed in on Fort Dix.
Officials say some of the suspects were caught on tape.

A tip helped authorities arrest six New Jersey men Monday night in connection to an apparent terror cell, according to NBC 10’s sister station WNBC in New York.
Five of them were arrested in Cherry Hill, according to reports.
Investigators said the men planned to use AK-47s to storm Fort Dix and open fire on soldiers and civilians stationed at the New Jersey base, noting that other military locations were scouted by the terrorist cell.
Three of the unnamed suspects are brothers who are all believed to be Islamic radicals, according to sources. Some of the six arrested men were also born in Albania and the former Yugoslavia, but they have spent a significant amount of time in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to authorities.

Investigators said the men planned to use automatic weapons to enter Fort Dix and kill as many soldiers as they could at the N.J. base. Fort Dix was just one of several military and security locations allegedly scouted by this group, authorities said.
Investigators told Newschannel 4's Jonathan Dienst that these arrests are the result of a tip to the FBI and use of an informant to track the suspects. The terror suspects traveled over the last several months from New Jersey to the Poconos where they practiced firing automatic weapons, investigators said.
Investigators said the group discussed targeting numerous locations like Dover Air base, Fort Monmouth and several Coast Guard stations before deciding on Fort Dix as their intended target. Fort Dix is run in part by the Army and is a reserve-training center, but active units take part in training, including some which focuses on counter-terrorism....
Ft Dix? Last I heard the state used part of it for a prison. In my day it was Ft Dix USATCI then it was deactivated and used by the Reserves and the National Guard. If anything, it shows our guys are on top of things, for now. Most of the Posts I have visited lately are guarded by rent a cops. If they could get a terrorist occupied vehicle through the barriers at the gate they could cause a lot of casualties driving around before they were stopped. It is a serious mater that requires a good contingency plan.(Hopefully they are in place.) Troops walking around Post aren’t armed. I can see how it would be not only possible but also fairly easy. A few other bases I have visited are also vulnerable. I will not elaborate for obvious reasons. Mc Guire AFB I tend believe has better security that Ft Dix since it is an active Base.

Nobody said terrorists have to be the brightest bulbs in the socket. These guys probably wanted to strike a blow for their “oppressed brothers” in Iraq or Afghanistan or Someturdistan, and ended up picking the most convenient place they saw as a symbol of US imperialism or some such drek.

I love it here but I am finding the taxes to be just too high anymore. It used to be rural where I live, now its a bunch of strip malls. I would like to stay in Southern NJ but the land there is just going too high now. NJ is driving people out.
According to CNN radio, this was “not terror related.” Which simply goes to show the lengths to which the media will go to cover up the concept that a terrorist attack can happen in America.
Sounds like the Bush friendly illegals made legal act is doing well. Allowing more of these murderers to remain here legally.
Same goes for any Marine base that I was on in the 1960's.

I wonder if they will be classified as enemy combatants, turned over to the military, and face trial at a tribunal. I think there could be a strong case here for not handling them in the civilian legal system/industry.
