A lot of European countries hold elections on Sundays. I guess they’ve found it’s more convenient; in addition, some of them (such as Spain) have a “period of reflection” of a day or two before the election during which no campaigning is allowed. So it works out well if it’s over a weekend.

This couldn't be a bad thing...however, what those folks in France call conservative compared what truly a conservative is like here in the states...is probably like the difference in black and white.
We'll see how pro American he is...I think that's the key here.

"I guess I will have to examine my bitterness that I have held the last few years."You should study history. France has been anti-US for over 200 years. The only reason, and I repeat, the only reason they "helped" the US during the Revolutionary War wasn't actually to "help" us but to hurt GB.
They have consistently voted against us in the UN for over 50 years that I can remember but their anti-US attitude extends to way back before then.
The election of Sarkozy isn't going to change anything, if at all, overnight.

"Sarko is definitely not Chiracs boy ." If you are correct then Sarko won't pardon Chirac or appoint him as an Ambassador or other honoary position in order to shield Chirac from prosecution.
We shall see.

It’s been a long time since I was in France, but I didn’t feel hatred at all, only from some arabs. I found them to be civil and treated us with respect if we treated them that way. My experience with them was not negative.

The French courts will likely overturn these results due to the conspiracy by Diebold and “Bushco”.

We must stick together against Islamofascism and its backwards, primitive, barbaric and savage culture, beliefs, behavior, religion and plans for a world caliphate.
As another gent said, "We must all hang together or we shall all hang separately."

France sucks regardless. I cant see why so Freepers care about this. Sorry.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. But not every FReeper has written off France. And to do so is quite naive in my opinion. France has had problems, but they are hardly our enemy. They recently sent their supercarrier (the only active one in the world outside the US Navy) to help support the War in Afghanistan where they also have troops fighting. Doesn't the US have enough real enemies in the world as it is without you trying to pick fights with our allies?

The Socialists of France have a very reliable partner in the upcoming riots. The "Africans" (codeword for militant jihadist Muslims) will also join in the rioting, but they were going to riot anyway, no matter WHO won. This way, the Socialists scrape up a few points with their
de facto allies, or at least, believe that may be what is happening.
Meanwhile, the effort to consolidate the right to practice shar'ia law in the "African" communities will continue.
