Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

The 30-40 banned posters are just the tip of the iceberg. That doesn't take into account the likely hundreds of thoughtful FReepers who have said they are taking a hiatus from here. If posters like Interesting Times are thinking of jumping ship, it's a much bigger problem than you can imagine.

If conservatives will not draw the line that says, "We're not voting Republican if Giuliani is the nominee," and mean it, the net result will be that the political establishment will not take conservatives seriously, and will go right ahead and nominate Giuliani anyway.

If legendary conservative posters are jumping ship or have been banned from Free Republic, the political establishment will simply NOT take what conservative posters on Free Republic think as representative of the conservative mainstream - even to the limited extent they have in the recent past. Often, we make the mistake of thinking this site is much more influential than it really is in the real world.

I’d like to hear the answers to the two questions ... I should not be insulted for choosing R, when I feel that is the best option.

I don't believe your should ever be insulted for your choice/your vote. Your vote is a prescious franchise that only you should control. However, I believe you would be challenged for any attempt to promote or justify such decision if the (R) in question was a liberal. Afterall, this is a conservative forum--a fact I think that has been made more than clear on this thread and others. JMHO

That WA site is the most disorganized mass of html I’ve ever seen. Enjoy your stay.

There've been some great--and badly needed--improvements in the software in the past few days and more supposedly are coming.

I know you don’t recant anything, and I really don’t want to debate with you since there is no probability of reaching common agreement at the end it.

I think my point was plain enough to everyone but you, and I’m content to leave it at that.

Pro-life conservatives didn’t elect Perot. He was a pro-abort. His wife sat on the Planned Barrenhood board.

Time for another quote, especially from a person who makes cookies!

“Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?”

The above is the title to this thread.  A simple question with a simple answer.  The answer is quite clearly NO.  In  post 16753 from last night, I mentioned ‘…which is when I plan to introduce a few ideas as moving forward points’.  In meeting my commitment, I’ll offer the following ideas:

(1)  Jim Robinson and many others here have already invested a great deal of time and effort to seeing FreeRepublic loudly saying NO to Rudy Giuliani as a Republican Primary Winner.  I’m not looking to re-invent any wheels with this idea, rather attempt to show how we can further build on these efforts and keep pushing.

I propose that all who have the time to keep building upon the information already being catalogued at the below thread.  Yes, this idea is simply to recognize that the wheel is already invented, so there’s no need for us to find a miracle pill (figuratively).

Posted on 04/25/2007 5:41:28 AM CDT by Jim Robinson

The Rudy Giuliani Truth File in his own words and deeds - quotes, speeches, transcripts, clips, reports

(2)  Alternate Candidate Review Thread – Civil and productive discussion of alternate candidate platforms.

(3) Separate Entity for Strategic Effort – Please frmail jedward if you are interested in committing time and effort to see Rudy defeated in the Republican Primaries.  Discussions have already been on-going but have not been and will not be posted to this thread.  The launch of an official campaign effort would be announced here at FR as News with the respective links to any Press Releases and pertinent information.  This team does not need heroes or saviors, simply those who have the time and talents necessary to implement a formal campaign.

(4)  Lock this thread for the time being, then unlock in order to celebrate the victory and accomplishment of FreeRepublic members and dedication to preserving conservative values and principles (a.k.a. Bye Bye Rudy).  I see no shame in anything I’ve said on this thread.  I have researched some on what’s being said out there.  People are hoping and praying that this thread simply disappears.  I’d like to see peoples emotions funneled into productive thoughts and actions, so by locking the thread, we are all forced to get busy with the work we have ahead of us.

I am fully committed to do everything I can, and realizing everyone’s circumstances are different, I hope that everyone is also committed to doing whatever they can, regardless the size and with no expectation of recognition.  For any who were hoping to see timelines and detailed strategy information, my apologies, but usually its best not to show your opponent your hand.

This thread, which briefly turned into a hugfest over the banning of numerous people who have been here many years and on our side on numerous conservatives issues, is now headed into the toilet again.

It didn't turn into a hugfest over people's bannings. There was talk of reconciliation and healing and it was working.

And it wouldn't have headed into the toilet again if some people hadn't started up again. This thread was on its way out.

Can anyone tell me what happens in the scenario if Rudy wins? This forum will have already driven off most Republicans who would vote for him in the general election.

So? This is a conservative site, not a Republican site. That has been stated many times. Conservatives do not want Dem-lite. They do not want RINO's.

So now it's a third party site, attacking Rudy, easily infiltrated by DU who will say the same things.

Hello, it states clearly that it's a third party site; conservative. Posting facts about someone's stand is not *attacking* him. He's as liberal as they come, against virtually everything conservatism is all about. He's pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-homosexual marriage, etc. Many of those things are morally wrong. Some are un-Constitutional. He's made a fool of himself with his behavior in public life and apparently private life. I would hope that IF he should ever hold a significant public office, he would not do anything to disgrace that office, but his track record so far is not really encouraging in that area.

Good! Family time is always better than this. How’s THAT for an understatement! LOL As for me, I’m done with this insanity. I’ll wait for answers to my questions but that’s it.

Sorry, I didn’t mean it to be a red herring, I meant it to help. There were also other posts throughout the thread that reaffirm the position. Hey—I’m more passionate about my economic conservatism than I am social, and I haven’t seen anything that seems to threaten the presence of like-minded folks. No one thinks 100% alike, but we all find things that we share positions on. (I think this thread brought it to a climax because Giuliani’s positions more closely fit the Democratic Platform than he does the Mission Statement of FR.) If I were a libertarian, I would come to FR to partake in the economic discussion and other news but I certainly wouldn’t be trying to promote liberal social views or a liberal candidate without risk of being asked to stop or being zotted as a troll. JMHO.

Your answer to my question is “so?”.

I know this is not a GOP site.

Apparently nobody cares if it becomes an anti-GOP site next year and what that might mean for this forum.

“So?”

I’m not whining. Aren’t you the one who said that to me before? Good grief, there is an enormous difference between whining and stating an opinion. Perhaps it would be better if FR came up with a list of approved talking points. Then we could all refer to the list before posting a comment. We wouldn’t even have to type! We could just cut ‘n paste the approved comments.

>> Without their assistance in posting articles and comments, spreading the word, supporting it financially, this site would have gone nowhere. They deserve a lot of credit for the past success of this site.

Therefore, we can confidently expect the WAs to prosper and flourish. These posters were the talent that made Free Republic what it is, you aver. Verily, now they shall make WA rise like Botticelli's Venus from the shell of a clam.

The scientists among us will be watching.

An embryo doesn’t have any brain function until 2-3 months gestation.

And yet, if left alone, a mere 6-7 months and the birthing process, it is deigned by the Supreme Court of The United States of America to be person with all the normal legal protections accorded to any other "person". Including the right to not be the subject of a contract killing between a woman and her "medical provider". Go figure.

Just a quick history reminder; allowing a Government to determine who is a "person", and who is not quite human (making them A-OK to be "terminated") has a really bad track record.

My previous post was an attempt to point out the invalidity of your relative "feelings" for your children that managed to draw a breath in this world and your children that never got to experience life in this world. Your miscarriages were natural tragedies and I am saddened to hear of them. An abortion is not natural; it is simply the criminal human poaching of another life. A murder that deprives a person of their first unalienable right.
