Chris Krug had thought she was a lesbian from the time she was 8, but she felt certain after developing a serious crush on her best friend.
She was in the fifth grade at the time.
Krug formally came out a year later, as she started Ritenour Middle School. She casually mentioned it to a classmate on a Sunday. By Monday, students were shouting "Christina's a lesbian," down the hallways at school.
"It was probably not the best way to go about it, but it happened," said Krug, now 16. "It was tough for a few months and then people were like, 'Ah, we don't care.'"
Young people are coming out at earlier ages than they used to. In a society that increasingly promotes tolerance and diversity, many gay teens feel it unnecessary to stay closeted to peers accustomed to seeing openly gay individuals in school, politics and especially in the media.
To be sure, verbal and physical bullying are still a concern for gay teens. Many say they still hear homophobic remarks from teachers and classmates at school, where "gay" or "queer" continues to be part of a common insult slung by adolescents.
But gay kids now have numerous Web sites they can turn to for support. And they find others like themselves represented on the big and small screen. While the gay community used to be portrayed as a fringe society, full of alcoholics and drug addicts, today gays and lesbians are shown as part of mainstream society. They are regular characters on popular television shows such as "Will & Grace," "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and "Desperate Housewives." The first-season "Survivor" winner, Richard Hatch, is gay.

Oh, those poor children.
Chain them to the radiator. ;)
Richard Hatch is not in Mainstream Society, but he is in the General Population.
this is caused by the Satanic evil of Public schools and Leftist pro_gay agenda.
Who cares??
In the teenage world, for some kids being gay is like a rebellion thing. If any of you all out there have teenagers ask them about Emo Kids. Scary stuff, they're more deranged than the goths.
I don't want my MTV

Hollywierd has been on a mission to use tv shows to inculcate the gay lifestyle into mainstream society. Even shows that have nothing to do with gays will include several episodes that portray homosexuals as normal.
Yes, they are "shown" as part of mainstream society.
But the reality is that they are "a fringe society, full of alcoholics and drug addicts". Perhaps not in HS, but give 'em time and they will spiral down a dark path. A very unhappy bunch of people.

___________
Indoctrinated by schools, politics, and especially, the media.
We always knew who the lesbians were in our jr high. Most were on the basketball team.
Not being sarcastic, being real.
And most of us didn't care.
How was she in fifth grade at age 8??
Thanks to their introduction to it in sex clubs in school.
This is hugely dangerous, very sad and extremely infuriating. Most if not all kids go through a prepubescent or early puberty period when they definitely love their same sex friends more than the opposite sex, whom they find scary. They get over it once the hormones hit and they learn to deal with them.
Pitiful if kids decide they're gay too early. It essentially means they stop developing emotionally and socially 11 or 12. If you know a lot of gay people, you have probably observed how childish they are. Even if you don't know any, it's pretty clear that making your plumbing and what you do with it the central issue of your life is immature.
I have known a large number of gays and lesbians thanks to ten years in the art world of San Francisco. Some seemed truly geneticallygay to me, others seemed straight but confused. The Confused ones may have decided too early that they were gay and could not shake the label. Terribly sad.
Puhleeze. Little girls have always formed crushes on their favorite female teachers, friends, etc., and then they mature and this attention turns to males. I assume the same is true with little boys, who form hero-worshipping attachments to older boys or men.
This is a way of safely training us to form attachments with people with admirable traits (nobody ever gets a crush on the class weirdo, of either sex!) and preparing us for sexual maturity, when these expectations shift to persons of the opposite sex.
Gays are trying to trap everybody in a perpetual childhood. Remember, once upon a time, homosexuality was defined as a disorder related to immaturity: that is, homosexuals had never moved out of their childhood formative or preparatory emotional stage into emotional and sexual maturity.
will and grace has got to be the worst show to "promote" homosexuality. i love that show because will and jack have about 99% of the gay stereotypes that makes them just so out there its funny. there is nothing about that show that says being gay is "normal."
