just breaking!!!!!!!!
"We?"
Wow, aren't you powerful.
Then you just made my point for me. Since I grew up in the evangelical church, by your logic, I must be of high moral character. Now you're saying I'm not.
BTW, I am not here to quarrel with you. However, if you've spent any time in churches, certainly you're aware that many that think they are saved really aren't. This is hardly new as Peter said the same thing about Simon the Magician.
Good question. Sad but true but the president can only get through what the Gang will accept.
I like to call it short-sightedness.
Then Kansas is different than Oklahoma. We want to oust the DemocRAT Governor and have a grassroots nominee in Ernest Istook who supported Dr. Tom Coburn. We are united in our desire to retire Brad Henry like we sent Brad Carson packing in the last Senate race.
I was at an Executive Committee Meeting last week and the main topic was the OU Bomber not the SCOTUS nomination. We learned that it takes every member of the grassroots pulling together in the last election and are not going to allow what goes on in D.C. to influence our local elections. We want the Senate and the Governor's Mansion here in Oklahoma to be Republican. Our Senate has never been Republican.
That is what is important to Oklahoma Republicans. We elected two fine men to be our Oklahoma Senators with Dr. Coburn sitting on Judiciary. I have complete faith in him that he will do the right thing on a nominee because he never does anything without a lot of research behind his decision. His lukewarm response to this after his support for Roberts spoke volumes to me.
Bush's pick was a bad one. If he had properly floated Miers and paid attention to the reaction, he would have never made the pick in the first place. That was his blunder and he and his advisers should know better.
I have to believe that either Bush is no longer listening to the advisers that got him elected. In fact, he may not be listening to any advisers at all beyond Andy Card and Laura Bush.
I TOO BELIEVE PRES.BUSH HAS STOPPED LISTENING TO HIS ADVISORS. IT IS QUITE OBVIOUS BY THE WORDS AND ACTIONS HE HAS TAKEN AS OF LATE. MAYBE HE DECIDED THAT SINCE HE WAS RE-ELECTED AND HAS NOTHING TO PROVE AND CAN'T FIGHT THE MACHINERY, HE'S JUST GOING TO CRUISE IN HIS OWN STYLE. THAT IS LIKE A POLITICIAN, WHERE ARE THE PATRIOTS IN GOVERNMENT?
Thanks for posting the information on the O'Connor vote. Your knowledgeable and reasoned response is exactly what is needed on this thread.
LOL - I've seen that so many times. I wish that pastors and youth leaders would do a better job of explaining what being "saved" really is so a mockery is not made of it.
To many, they get saved, start living like a religious zealot for a couple of months and then gradually drift back to where they were. The process usually takes about 6 to 8 months.
Exactly -- that was a lot uglier then this one IMHO!
Point being, I meant what I said. You all brought him to his knees.
Bush and the GOP aren't going to have my support in 2006 and 2008.
I don't think so.
Yes. I'd rather endure O'Connor for a few more months than get a lifetime appointment wrong.
Besides, O'Connor is the justice who wrote the scathing dissent in the property rights case. She is (by far) not wrong on every issue.
Moreover, were it not for Justice O'Connor, Bush might not have won the USSC decision in late 2000. Gore would have been President.
I've not always agreed with Justice O'Connor, but I believe she is an outstanding public servant and brilliant woman. I wish her health and happiness. My deepest regret in this delay is that she needs to get off the bench to assist her ailing husband.
I don't believe in judicial activism, period.
I even remember a time when "real" conservatives didn't either. Like six months ago.
Because he nominated Miers or because he allowed her withdraw?
You are painting a whole group of people, most of whom attempted to argue their case fairly, with the same broad brush. It is inaccurate and I object to the mischaracterization.
Just as I object to your inaccurate and hyperbolic charge that the attacks Miers suffered from conservatives, closely approximated the attacks Bork and Thomas endured at the hands of the Liberals and the MSM.
I'll be honest, though I am entused about her withdrawl, I am really apprehenisve about his next pick.
Keep telling yourself that.
Agreed, she is not nearly as bad as many make her out to be. She isn't the greatest, but she is no Breyer, Stevens or Ginsberg.
I agree 100 percent.
And that doesn't even count the ones who won't even consider being nominated because of what we have just witnessed.
