Ken Clarke is running for leadership whether he thinks that will give him more votes from the MPs that now have douts about it or the grass roots if the voting process goes that way.

It is unclear if the Friday mentioned is actually August 26th or September 2nd (with most leaning to the September 2 date). The article says "shortly before midnight Friday" in an article dated Saturday, September 3. Odd way to phrase it if they meant Friday, September 2. Especially if talks continued through the night.

Interesting news about the jail. I sincerely hope that any of those criminals did not board the buses heading out of NO to be foisted on unsuspecting benefactors.

They ought to cancel the tour to reflect the conserving of gas after all many of these people would say they are conservationists.

'Gotta see Landrieu on
This Week'!
'Stephie' is 'gonna join with Landrieu in blaming it all on Bush. Collins & Lieberman are already getting ready for an inquirey to find what 'went-wrong'.
Time for ALL conservatives to be aware of that there is a lynch-mob mentality in the left... and they see this natural disaster as their victory!

You would expect more from a supposed big name paper as the Wash Post to give exact dates but sometimes stuff like that is not done "on purpose" to protect their brother rats- in-hiding.
Either way the failure of both the Gov. and the Mayor of NO(who by the way last night accused the CIA of planning to take him out on CNN) to ask for maximum help from the feds on the Friday before the storm ever hit is all encompassing IMHO.
It says volumes about how this entire fiasco was totally mismanaged by everyone in state govt. It also solidifies my claim that most govt. officials from the Gov. down to the lowliest policeman in NO(2/3 of which walked off the job by the way) were totally incompetent. they were and are nothing more than political patrons. They were appointed because they have a D behind their name when they vote.
In other words it's all bullsh!t blaming GW. This is a massive failure of state and local govt. and will be proven to have been so in the end.

Russert is more interested in getting blood from any admin official than in advancing the rescue and recovery efforts.

I think it for the people that were already in jail at one point they were herded onto one of the bridges or Interstate what happened from there I do not know but I am certain some must escaped and been responsible for some of the looting.

Excellent point. However, I doubt that they are logical enough to see the disconnect between their spouting and their actions.

Well clearly, Russert has no concern of saving anymore victims. He merely wants "HEADS TO ROLL" now.
Chertoff is calmly responding to a distgusting onslaught of accusations from Russert.
