The Talk Shows

Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Chertoff; Scientific American editor Mark Fischetti; former New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial; author Mike Tidwell.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): pre-empted by U.S. Open (Tennis).
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La.; Chertoff; author and journalist Rick Bragg.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Chertoff; Sen. Trett Lott, R-Miss.; Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Julie Gerberding; Reps. William Jefferson, D-La., Richard Baker, R-La., Charles Melancon, D-La., and Bobby Jindal, R-La.; former Sen. John Breaux, D-La.; American Red Cross President Marty Evans; former Surgeon General David Satcher; the Rev. Al Sharpton.
Thank God Biden and McCain et al are not on today. I see that Russert has Mary Landrieu (SP), who no doubt, will defend the "leadership" in her state and get out the DNC talking points. Tim has plenty of WP and NYT articles critical of President Bush to quote.
BTW, AB. Your screen name prompted me to re-read the disaster novel by the same name some time ago, and the break down in law and order accurately mirrored what happened this past week in NO.
snugs,
What is this about the UK Conservatives coming out against the war in Iraq? True?
oh, and good morning!
You left out the part about the governor suspecting the president's motives were "political" !!!
That book Alas, Babylon sits on the first shelf of my bookcase and I re-read it so many times when it first came out; you're right that the book accurately reflects the breakdown in society.
Frustrating I think rather than interesting
Brilliant
"Cindy Sheehan's financier & promoter Ben & Jerry's CFO to plead Guilty in fraud case."
Thanks for that tidbit!
here's a funny one...

Florida Billboards Blame Bush for Hurricanes
Thanks for the list. I didn't realize that tennis was going to be on this morning.
MTP just starting here. It appears Russert has altered the line up of guests to Rehnquist and Katrina.
That was crazy yesterday when Sean interviewed him he immediately admitted he had only met once over a meal.
I hope Sheehan's tour buses run out of gas. The interest in her has.
You are so right. Poor timing by CJOTSC.
R.I.P. good and faihful servant.
WHAT?
ABC's Terry Moron on now. Put on the hip boots, here it comes!
I heard last night on Fox that they were building a JAIL in New Orleans.
Were working right through the night on it in fact.
Interesting.
They are building a jail, which is likely a temporary holding type affair. And they're doing it not only in a city that's flooded but they're building it NOW.
And they're doing it, I surmise, to have a place to put the hoodlums they round up during the last ends of the evacuation.
Just an intriguing thing. I'd have never thought of it. But consider, if the thugs and thieves don't leave and continue to use the disaster to abuse those left behind, well they DO need a place to put them.
About 90 people showed up to greet the bus (which is actually a small van) in St. Louis yesterday. Not much of a turnout for a city this size. One of the attendees was wearing a shirt with a hammer and sickle on it. We tried to get a picture.
