The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

He's saying the sandbags weren't there, the copter that was to drop them was diverted to rescues.
He mentioned Bush...
Like I said, he's doing the Democrat spin, with precision
Yes, I hear you. Water levels shouldn't lie, but we can't get accurate info either.
He's a regular Churchill
/not
It is 2.69 today and last week it was "only" 2.49.
Still something about GA gas prices not quite right. We have the lowest (or close to it) gas taxes in the nation. And for a long while our prices reflected it. But now we have higher prices than surrounding states, even with the lower tax. Someone, somewhere is gouging us.
I dont believe the hovercrafts are small enough to navigate city streets.
Urging whoever can still drive, drive west.
"If there is a news blackout, it will be because the levees have totally gone"
Disagree. If there's a news blackout it's for complete embarassment that such minor breaches (minor when they started) weren't stopped.
There's only two breaches.
Good Grief
I watched her presser and wished for Mike Foster or any male to be running the show. She and Mary were almost broken down. We need a man running this.
Did you hear the Mayor? This guy needs removed if you ask me. Talking about all of Jefferson and Orleans Parish will be under water.
That's what it is. The places by the French Quarter will have very little. Parts of St. Charles, where it's 9 feet below sea level, will be 12 ft. below.
New Orleans is an uneven bowl...higher spots and low places.
Did you see the footage that photo came from?
They swung around the car, and looked as if someone was in the front seat, but then swung away quickly...
What idiot drives out onto a bridge during a HUURICANE?
Mayor was on WWL.
Tried to get the helicopters to plug the levee. Said the helicopters were diverted to save people on roofs.
He looked sincere, tired. Said "Too many chiefs here, not enough Indians" meaning to many bosses.
> I've heard it said for YEARS that even in America, we are NEVER more than 48 hours away from anarchy....
Civilization is but a thin veneer over humanity.
My God, what a pic.
It looks like EVERY thing in NO is seeking its lowest level: water, people, everything!
"the break is 2 blocks wide"
That is a very finite distance given the downside.
