The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

heck at this point I'm ready to pounce on him. Where the hell is he? His approval is already below 50% - if he keeps up this silence, the country will turn against him so quick that I fear his presidency will be over.
We're already at $3/gallon here.
I just found out that gas in Columbus ohio (Kroger stores) will be going up .25 to .50 cents a gallon at 6:00 am tomorrow.
Thanks! They made it sound like they had shut it down manually.
They are saying now not to touch bodies.
Horrific news:
Situation has gone from bad to worse. The water is going to continue to rise. The 17th street canal has failed which means the water will continue to drain into New Orleans. The level will rise to up the level of the lake. St. Charles will rise to nine feet of water. Mayor wanted everyone to be warned to get out of town now.
Coming from lake ponchartrain. Lake is still about 5 feet above normal.
The PUMP HAS FAILED. Just heard. The water in NO will rise to the level of Lake Ponchartrain, which is about 3 feet above sea level right now.
The PUMP HAS FAILED.
Where?
What was the wife doing there?
its an AP photo, streets not listed
He'sbeen onT V and addressed this. BTW, he can't get re elected - or didn't you know that?
He made some comments this morning, but we need some more action than that.
CNN reporting that the National Guard has arrived in the french quarters.
Roger that
And say what? Just came back in - have we got any military in the area yet?
I have no cable, so I rely on y'all.
We had a much smaller but similar situation years ago in San Diego..the Rodriguez dam in Mexico was full from rainwater and in danger of breaking..they let water out the spillways down the flood control channel to the US without giving enough notice downstream causing lots of damage... if the dam had busted it would have been ten times worse...
I missed the precise location.
"How, exactly, do you propose that they tow a multiton hull stuck fast in a mud flat with runabouts??? "
With a sailboat, you put a line on the mast and tilt perpindicular till the keel lifts off the bottom.
Like I said, I know a thing or three about this.
Thank you posting something that makes sense. Really appreciate it.
