Move America Forward will be conducting the You Dont Speak for Me, Cindy caravan beginning next week. It will feature military family members who have loved ones serving in the war against terrorism in Iraq or Afghanistan. The delegation will be led by Deborah Johns of Marine Moms. (Her son has served in Operation Iraqi Freedom).
Main caravan leaves from San Francisco, California on Monday, August 22nd. Other caravans will depart from around the country. If you want to be part of a caravan, email us with your name and location you will depart from and we will include in our caravan coverage so people in your area can depart with you.
Everyone arrives in Crawford, Texas for a giant We Support Our Troops AND Their Mission Rally on Saturday, August 27, 2005.
If you have a loved one serving in Iraq or Afghanistan and would like to join the caravan please contact Move America Forwards Robert Dixon: Robert@MoveAmericaForward.org
Greg's Mom, SoldiersPrayingMom, had made arrangements to join the "You don't Speak for Me, Cindy" Caravan and was in Sacramento to start the trip when her husband said, "Gee, that soldier over there looks a lot like Greg!". The soldier did indeed look a lot like Greg because it was Greg! He's home from Iraq for a 14 day leave. What a surprise for his Mom!
Check out BethTopaz's report on this thread.
Here is my letter to editors on the same theme.
So you went to one of the many MoveOn.org's candlelight vigil's this week. You say you support the troops BUT not the war and my question is HOW do you support the troops?
Do you stop every soldier you pass by and shake his/her hand and say Thank you for your service to our Country!? Have you bought them a cup of coffee, a coke or their dinner?
Do you pray for them? Do you send them letters, care packages, or even send money to those who do that? Do you donate to the lady sending air conditioners to the troops living in 115 degrees? Do you put a magnet or flag on the back of your car? Are you rooting for them to win?
Do you say this is an un-just war only about oil? If so, you must be working hard to make sure that we end our dependence on foreign oil. Are you telling your Congressmen to drill US resources immediately in Texas, OK, Florida and California and most importantly ANWR. This will have a consequence of having jobs come back to America from the Middle East.
The biggest difference between Iraq and Vietnam is that we don't have the draft now. The original Vietnam protestors was they didn't want to join up and die. We have a volunteer military that doesn't ask YOU to enlist if YOU don't think it is a worthy mission. We just ask you do one thing. Please support the ones who do feel so strongly as to put their lives on the line for what they believe is freedom for 100 million people.
At the time of the Iraqi election there was a period of 113 days where there were 4 elections (Afganistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Palistine) where 100 million people could vote for the 1st time in thousands of years. Think about that. And it happened in only 2 years. Without a plan
Did you notice all the conservatives doing anti-war rallies during any one of the eight wars that Bill Clinton got US into? No
. and why? Because right or wrong we stopped our dissent at the waters edge and didn't diss the President of the US. or do anything to hinder the troops.
Now I'm betting that at ALL the MoveOn.org rallies there was not one American flag. That was true of the one in my little town. I'm sure the talk was not of our troops, what they have accomplished or how well it is going. I'm betting that IF those that attended will be honest it was America is bad, it is all our fault and the soldiers are all evil or dying for a bad cause..
I do feel that it is in America's best interest to leave the military decisions to the Generals and the troops and not put it in Cindy Sheehan's grieving hands.
All I know is that if Al-Jazerra puts it on their TV propaganda as good for the terrorists, it must be bad for US. Who do you stand with?
HOW do you Support the troops?
my name
Marine mom
Got a lot of my education from www.freerepublic.com who puts on many Support the troops rallies. The next one will be in Crawford 8/27/05
But we all know "Psycho" Sheehan's name, ad nauseum, don't we?
Tell me about it. My son was stationed in Oxnard and I thought we were never going to get out of Texas. It took us 12 hours of hard driving to get to El Paso.
Very good, Bat Lady. I hope it gets published.
From your profile page, I would say the caravan would be much less without you. Thank you for serving America and for your other many efforts. NeoLiberals can not deal with direct, factual, logical, and patriotic speech from people like you. It burns them like salt on a leech.
A dad who called Sean Hannity's show today indicated that he called the sheriff's department in Crawford and asked them to remove his son's cross . . . The department/sheriff indicated that they'd GLADLY remove the cross ASAP!!. . . Sean may talk more about this tomorrow!
[BTW: You have my deepest sympathy and RESPECT . . . Your brother is a HERO (as are you/your family for your sacrifice)!!]
Thanks, Bat Lady Marine Mom. Great letter!
A Good time was had by all. Deborah was well spoken and put her message across clearly and humanely. Good luck to you all in the caravan and I hope you get a LOT of support in Texas!
I'd like to share a story with you folks.
I'm a fire fighter here in central texas. One of my fellow fire fighters lost his twin brother during Special Forces combat ops in Iraq.
We will be memorializing Master Sergeant Robert M. Horrigan in Crawford on Saturday and John Horrigan will be speaking.
John Horrigan feels very strongly about the service and sacrifice of his brother. He believes the way to honor our troops is to support the mission and for us to be victorious in the war on terror. John entered the service with his brother and served as a US Army Ranger.
This is how the discription read in the hand out at the funeral.
MASTER SERGEANT ROBERT M. HORRIGAN
Master Sergeant Robert (Bob) Horrigan was born January 13th 1965, in Limestone, Maine. Robert graduated in 1984 from Crockett High School in Austin, TX. He then enlisted in the US Army graduated and served in the 3rd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment at Ft. Benning, Ga. In 1991 he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborn), Ft. Bragg, NC. His last assignment was with the US Army Special Operations Command. Robert had completed tours in Afghanistan and in Iraq. Master Sergeant Horrigan's awards and the decorations included the Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device and oak leaf cluster, Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the 6th award of the Army Good conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with bronze service star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Campaign Medals, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the NATO medal, the Ranger Tab, the Special Forces Tab, the Combat Infantry Badge the Expert Infantry Badge, Military Freefall Jumpmaster Badge, the Master Parchutist Badge, and the Combat Diver's Badge.
Robert was posthumously awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device and the Purple Heart.
MSG Robert Horrigan died in Iraq on June 17th, 2005 "Bringin' it to'em!" Robert was the best of the best serving his country while protecting everyone's right to life and liberty. This was Robert's fifth and final tour to Iraq. He was to return home in July and retire in April 2006. "Every man dies but not every man truly lives..." Robert truly lived--for family, for nation, and for the guys next to him.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman and loved turkey and deer hunting, as well as fishing. He was an aspiring Bladesmith. His knives are cherished by many throughout the world.
I'll stop there.
Central Texas Fire Fighters are looking forward to serving up some grub.
Hope you can make it to Crawford
Kudos on the great letter!
BTTT!!!!!
We look forward to seeing you there!!
Seventy-six Old Glories led the big parade
With a hundred and ten Fine Freepers close at hand
They were followed by rows and rows of families
The cream of patriots in this fruited land
Seventy-six Old Glories caught the morning sun
With a hundred and ten Fine Freepers right behind
There were more than a thousand vets
Marching in formation sets
A prouder unit you could never find
There were patriotic songs of every kind
Thundering, thundering all along the way
Bells and horns and home-made signs
Each one with its big fat say !
There were millions more good folks at home
Cheering, boosting, adding to the roar
Moms, dads, kids of every size
And Gold Star Moms with teary eyes
All part of the March to Crawford corps !

Pleas, Please, Please get your room today if you are going to WACO. I have been on the phone with IHA the hotel provider I use on my websites and the reservation folks are being deluged. I would never do this but here is a priority link to reservations.I talked to Gracey last night and she has her reservation and I have one too. I heard on KSEV that 10,000-100,000 people were expected. Click on WACO while you still can get a room.

Exactly! Crawford is NORMALLY a very nice quiet place to live/visit. Once the heat from all of this settles (if ever), I am sure it will return to it's quiet country living atmosphere.
