Here is my letter to editors on the same theme.

So you went to one of the many MoveOn.org's candlelight vigil's this week. You say you “support the troops BUT not the war” and my question is HOW do you “support the troops”?

Do you stop every soldier you pass by and shake his/her hand and say “Thank you for your service to our Country!”? Have you bought them a cup of coffee, a coke or their dinner?
Do you pray for them? Do you send them letters, care packages, or even send money to those who do that? Do you donate to the lady sending air conditioners to the troops living in 115 degrees? Do you put a magnet or flag on the back of your car? Are you rooting for them to win?

Do you say this is an un-just war only about oil? If so, you must be working hard to make sure that we end our dependence on foreign oil. Are you telling your Congressmen to drill US resources immediately in Texas, OK, Florida and California and most importantly ANWR. This will have a consequence of having jobs come back to America from the Middle East.

The biggest difference between Iraq and Vietnam is that we don't have the draft now. The original Vietnam protestors was they didn't want to join up and die. We have a volunteer military that doesn't ask YOU to enlist if YOU don't think it is a worthy mission. We just ask you do one thing. Please support the ones who do feel so strongly as to put their lives on the line for what they believe is freedom for 100 million people.

At the time of the Iraqi election there was a period of 113 days where there were 4 elections (Afganistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Palistine) where 100 million people could vote for the 1st time in thousands of years. Think about that. And it happened in only 2 years. “Without a plan”

Did you notice all the conservatives doing anti-war rallies during any one of the eight wars that Bill Clinton got US into? No…. and why? Because right or wrong we stopped our dissent at the waters edge and didn't diss the President of the US. or do anything to hinder the troops.

Now I'm betting that at ALL the MoveOn.org rallies there was not one American flag. That was true of the one in my little town. I'm sure the talk was not of our troops, what they have accomplished or how well it is going. I'm betting that IF those that attended will be honest it was “America is bad, it is all our fault and the soldiers are all evil or dying for a bad cause..”

I do feel that it is in America's best interest to leave the military decisions to the Generals and the troops and not put it in Cindy Sheehan's grieving hands.

All I know is that if Al-Jazerra puts it on their TV propaganda as good for the terrorists, it must be bad for US. Who do you stand with?

HOW do you “Support the troops?”

my name
Marine mom
