ANTI-KERRY VETS HANG TOUGH
Drudge Report ^ | Fri Aug 06 2004 13:37:12 ET

Posted on 08/06/2004 10:51:08 AM PDT by Brian Mosely

The following statement from Swift Boat Veterans for Truth concerns an article appearing in morning edition of the Boston Globe:

"Viet Vet Captain George Elliott describes an article appearing in today’s edition of the Boston Globe by Mike Kranish as extremely inaccurate and highly misstating his actual views. He reaffirms his statement in the current advertisement paid for by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Captain Elliott reaffirms his affidavit in support of that advertisement, and he reaffirms his request that he ad be played.

“Additional documentation will follow.

The article by Mr. Kranish is particularly surprising given page 102 of Mr. Kranish’s own book quoting John Kerry as acknowledging that he killed a single, wounded, fleeing Viet Cong soldier whom he was afraid would turn around.

“Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has more than 250 supporters who are revealing first hand, eyewitness accounts of numerous incidents concerning John Kerry’s military service record. The organization will continue to discuss much of what John Kerry has reported as fact concerning his four-month tour of duty in Vietnam.”

LOL! That would far exceed my HTML skills!

Yes the site requires that you have quicktime to see the ad, but you should be able to access through your own search engine. I am not familiar with web tv.

O'Dell, I believe. Caught it. Shame they basically let McCain have the last word. He drew breath for a reply, but his time was up. Still he did a very good job.

It takes courage to stand up to Kerry and the press -- especially when so many members of the press are taking money under the table from the Kerry campaign. Disgraceful, lamestream stuff...

The Charge of the Light Brigade
Alfred, Lord Tennyson

1.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

3.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.

4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.

5.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.

6.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred.

Didn't get to listen to El Rushbo today, but I followed your link at Shed Powers to the thread at Liberty Post and was wondering how your 'friends' there took this news? hehe

They better start calling a spade a spade and a lie a lie.

I don't think they know the difference. These journalists are either the product of the anti-war movement worldview of the 60s or a US education that has taught for years that Viet Nam was bad, we were bad for being there and the leaders were bad for lying to us about it all. Picture yourself if someone challenged what you considered to be an essential truth on which you have built your worldview. It reminds me of the old communists of the 20s and 30s who one day had to face the fact of the gulags, it broke them in two.

The only use the Dems have for Kerry's service in Viet Nam is that he found the light (in their eyes) when he returned to this country. It gives them cover that he was there and nothing else, exploring what he did there doesn't matter to them because it's not the point of all of their manufactured images.

I'm impressed with your thought process and explanation. I share your frustrations and assessments with this slimy opportunist and his minions. Keep the gears turning.

My guess is that the lawyers got scared off by the Drudge story about the Globe. It was just a little too obvious having the guys name on the story and the book.

Here is a letter that I sent to Gromer Jeffers, Wayne Slater, and Tim Connolly of the Dallas Morning News asking them what plans they have to report on the Swift Boat Veterans' ad the journalistic improprieties of the Boston Globe's Mike Kranish.

I would urge others to write Mr. Jeffers, Mr. Slater, and Mr. Connolly and ask them the same thing in your own words.

Be nice -- if we can get one major newspaper to report this story then others will follow.

I built my letter around one written by another Freeper but I can't seem to find it now. If someone figures it out who I plagiarized it from please ping them and pass along my thanks for a great letter.

===================

Boston Globe reporter Mike Kranish reported earlier today that "a key figure in the anti-Kerry campaign, Kerry's former commanding officer [George Elliott], backed off one of the key contentions."

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth issued a statement a little later that has Mr. Elliott claiming that the Kranish article is "extremely inaccurate" and that it “highly misstated his actual views.” Captain Elliott reaffirmed his original affidavit and requested that the ad still be played.

Get this, however – Kranish is the author of the forthcoming official book on the Kerry-Edwards campaign called Kerry and Edwards:  Their Plans and Promises! Not only that, the Boston Globe has assigned him to cover the Kerry campaign. Why is the author of a fawning campaign book on John Kerry masquerading as an unbiased reporter and why is the Boston Globe allowing him to do this?

This is an amazing conflict of interest and downright journalistic malpractice. What plans does the Dallas Morning News have to report on Mr. Kranish’s impropriety? Has the Dallas Morning News contacted George Elliott to verify that Mr. Kranish really did misstate his views? Does anyone at the Dallas Morning News even care?

Some on this forum and most in todays society do not understand how personal this is with vets of my generation.

I can only understand through my imagination, not my experience. But I do know this from those in my family who are veterans...they would never vote to send men and women to battle without hard and careful thought and they would never vote no when it came to funding the mission they agreed to send them on. I find this one of the most despicable thing about Kerry.

Email sent.
Closed by saying the spotlight of truth was on them. Doubt they care but if the response is significant maybe we will raise a "beeber.".
Thanks for the links,

Did nay of you see Shep today he called the Swift Boat men that runs ads liar. I worte him a email and told him to go back and read McCain in 5-14-73 in Us News and world Report. McCain wrote that Kerry testimony before Foreign Relation Committee "Was the most effective PROPAGANDA my North Vietnam captors had to use against us". I told Shep how about Truth and Balance.
And also the Swift Boat worked in groups, just because they was in Kerry boat does not mean they did not see what he did. Did he think they was all blind to what was going on.
