Edwards ain't got no gravitas and is utterly unqualified to be President of The United States of America.

So why did Kerry pick him? He carries no help around the Great Lakes and comes from N. Carolina. Either Kerry feels he does not need help in Wis. Ohio. and Pa. or he is despairing of these places and is trying to reshuffle the deck. I believe Kerry is confident enough to believe that Bush's negatives have grown to the point where he can make in roads in the border states. In short, Kerry is looking for Edwards to carry the soccer moms and run the Oprah campaign.

He thinks he will win and so do I but not because of Edwards. Kerry has stopped playing rope-a-dope and has gone over to playing offense. He aims to take the lead now extend it through the convention and never relinquish it. I hope I am wrong but wishing will not make it so.

Also a bit of trivia about the 80 Republican convention.

The slogan on the speakers platform was supposed to be "It's Time for a Fresh Start".

But that had to be nixed because a new laundry detergent called "Fresh Start" was just introduced on to the market.

The slogan was changed to "It's Time for a New Beginning" and the rest is history.

Not to mention -- the LABOR UNIONS are probably going to be PISSED because they were demanding Gephardt as the VP candidate.

Like John Sweeney is going to endorse Bush. Right.

Now that it's Edwards - watch for the hidden claws of Hillary. Remember when we all were talking about that nutcase Dean - not one blatantly obvious flaw was mentioned by the fawning media. But then.....suddenly (coinciding with the Clinton's downturned thumb - and the release of Dean's letter to Bill Clinton), the media circled him like the pack of hyenas they are.

I remember the stunned face of the Screamer, when the suddenly hostile press shot question after question at him, and as he stumbled through the same answers that used to get rousing rounds of applause from these same leftist journalistic hacks.

So it will be with the two John's. They'll bask in the glory of their convention - but suddenly, inexplicably, they'll be hit with relentless questions on all the issues we have talked ourselves blue about, with no effect on the lamestream media. Kerry's traitorous behavior in the 70's, his questionable war record, the condemnation of all but a couple of his fellow unit memebers, his gigolo-ness, his non-existent 30-year Senate record, his constant flip-flops. Why suddenly, the media will "discover" these things.

The Edwards pick is also a bone to Nader. Remember, Ralph urged Kerry to pick the Breck girl.

Yep, I sure do. Kerry and Nader had 3 behind closed door meetings on that point alone.

FOX reporting on Edwards...he's still in North Carolina at "his wife's family farm"? Don't either of these candidates have any homes of their own???

No one said he lives at the farm. Do you visit your in-laws?

Where have you been for the last two years?

Edwards is not running for reelection in North Carolina because he couldn't win again!

And stop being so damn snotty.

I agree Nathan. You are going to see all Kerry all the time from now until November. The media will make it appear he is already the President and attempt madly to forge false impressions.

Its going to be tough.

Estrich thinks Bush is going to lose the election

Of course she does, she's a democrat. That's her job.

She thought Dukakis was going to win also, she ran his campign in 88.

She doesn't exactly have a good track record.

Zilch. This one ticket that will NEVER carry a single one of the 11 states of the Old Confederacy.

Kennedy and Johnson were political enemies. Kennedy selected him for the VP to sort of put him on ice--make him a political nobody, because the VP at that time was mostly a ceremonial placeholder (no real power or influence). Kennedy wanted to get Johnson out of his (Kennedy's) way for influence in the Senate. Johnson had been Senate Majority Leader.

Kennedy wanted Texas, which is why he selected Johnson. Even with Johnson on the ticket, Kennedy only beat Nixon in Texas by 46,000 votes or 50.5% of the vote. If you recall, it was a very close national election with Kennedy receiving 49.72% of the vote to Nixon's 49.55%. It was not a matter of getting LBJ out of the way, but rather, winning the election. This is one of the few elections where the VP nomineee may have made a difference.

I think you misheard Fox.

They said that Edwards and his wife will join Kerry and his wife at Kerry's wife's farm.

Nelson

Bill? I don't think Nelson could have delivered Florida.

Lincoln

From Arkansas? Nobody wants to open that can of worms again.

Feinstein

The angry feminist vote is all sewn up. And the quickest way to urinate away Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania is to be anti-gun.
