Yes, everyday we become more credible. In the beginning we were chastised for even having this thread.

If you're going to be put out for 3 weeks, try to find some of the extended stay apartments. They have much better rates than typical overnight motels. I patronized one of those places for 5 weeks at a time while doing some contract work in San Diego. Many areas hit you with a transient occupancy tax that is refunded completely on your 31st consecutive day. In San Diego, that tax was about $11.00 per day. Nice rebate.

How can we wake them up before it's too late.

Jill's got the first installment of it up, and it's got me fuming.

Jill, bravo to you for persevering in the face of what you had to put up with!

I agree. I doubt we ever gave him money personally. He had tens of millions of dollars of his own. But he was definitely on "our side" of the Afghan War before he went over to the dark side. After the war was over in 1989, the jihadi soldiers of fortune started looking for new job opportunities to fight infidels. As CIA and ISI ran that war, that was also where he became friends with a lot of bad folks in Pakistan.

Qaeda's formation was about the time when Bin Laden developed his relationship with Iraqi intelligence. (The details of his relations with Iran are murkier, but they were evident by 1993 when Iran backed his operations in Somalia against our forces and resulted in "Black Hawk Down".)

But of course "Uncle Joe" was our buddy when fighting Hitler.

Saddam himself has a "complicated" history with us going back to Egypt.

I am sure that will come out in the war crimes trial.
Noriega pulled the same stunt.

War makes strange bedfellows.
And it makes for a most unpleasant "morning after".

Good story.

People tend to freak out when you paint a bullseye on their back.

But with some people, sometimes that is not an entirely bad thing.

Update on the Mall of America concern.
My sister gave the information to the police and they shared it immediately with the FBI up here. Apparently, they thought this was a very serious concern and are exploring it. I have already been told that the name this person is using is bogus, as is his story that he was arrested and put under house arrest. I don't know if I will have any more updates, because the FBI is handling it from here, and they are under no obligations to provide any further information.

Another fine example of our porous borders:

As a convicted felon who was deported three years ago, Eustorgio Leonides Facundo should not have been in the country.

Yet Facundo, an illegal alien, managed to get a job last year at a Sarasota (Fla.) roofing company. And he was allowed to get out of jail after an arrest in April, when he could have been detained if local authorities had called immigration officials.

Late Thursday night, he was arrested on charges he killed a woman, strangling her over an argument about sexual favors.

Police say he and a Venice woman transported the body of 41-year-old Teresa Knight to a vacant, wooded area near Englewood and set it on fire. Facundo, 25 is charged with second-degree murder, and is being held without bond at the Sarasota County Jail.

Yes, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kashmir, Algeria, Chechnya, Yugoslavia, America, Phillipines, Sudan, Egypt.....

Bodansky does write about an Islamist Internationale - Conferences in Khartoum etc, which is basically what Osama calls AQ - The International Front.

Yes, not many people know we supported Saddam and the Baathis in their coup. He's our boy, like so, so many.

You could ask Michael Ledeen, an expert on Iran -- not sure how often he checks in on FR however.

Maybe he has a email link on one of his articles.

Actually, there were claims in jihad media as there were for TWA800.

"creative names for the USSR."

When WE used to train for a land battle in Germany facing the Russkies (this was the early 1980's) we always called them OPFOR (Opposing Forces). But funny, all the bad guy uniforms and equipment just happened to match WARSAW Pact stuff. What a coincidence!

Most homeowner CC&R's provide for the "quiet enjoyment of the property" sold. So much for the Muslims attempting to be good neighbors.

Today I stopped to get some gas in Sacramento. It was obviously a middle eastern run station. One of the arab speaking workers, who was sweeping up the lot, was wearing "mock" military camo pants(green) and a beige T-shirt. Is this their new native dress?

I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying "Hey buddy, What is with the combat imagery?"

"Bodansky does write about an Islamist Internationale - Conferences in Khartoum etc, which is basically what Osama calls AQ - The International Front"

That was when I first heard of UBL. The Sudanese newspaper referred to him at that 1994 meeting as "Dr. Ussama Bin Ladeen". When I read the guest list my first thought was - - "that's not good".

I think the latest meeting of the "Internationale" took place the first couple weeks of February in Tehran.

I think the conference was called the "Ten Days of Dawn".

When I was much younger, an acquaintance tried to tell me that ALL governments use propaganda. I was totally disbelieving. I thought they were outrageous to even suggest such a thing about our country. I was sooooooo naive. It is still my inclination that flight was a terrorist hit. You are correct, we wouldn't know the truth if it bit us.
