Dearborn Muslims begin what leader says will be weekly protest of U.S. in Iraq



DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- Chanting "Get out of Najaf, Get out of Karbala," about 200 Muslims protested the American occupation of Iraq on Friday with signs, as drivers honked their support along a main street in the heart of the city.

The protesters in this heavily Arab suburb of Detroit said they are angry about the destruction of holy sites in Iraq and the ongoing violence against its people. (snip)

I was WRONG. Not based on the Iran info, but rather a warning from some other group al somthing brigades. According to Steve Emerson they have no operational ability, and are the group that said they caused the blackouts etc. He said they are not credible.

PS I also did CB Patrol for several years until 16 years ago, the risks we took with Chicago gangs reminds me of the terrorist danger

Right after I graduated from college in 1976, I picked up a CB and spent the summer hanging out with old friends from high school. In time, I discovered the "CB culture" in the area was oriented to beach bonfire parties with lots of beer, marijuana and fighting that included knives and guns. The crazies would actively hunt each other, pull down CB antenna with grappling hooks and a 4X4 and shoot out windows with a 12 gauge shotgun. I decided that crowd was too rough for my tastes. I studied for my ham license and found a slightly better educated group of people there. The choice in radio gear was significantly better too.

Sheriff's deputies were chasing a suspect east of the Circle K convenience store Friday morning when the suspect went into the home. Another man was allegedly making explosive devices, and the sheriff's bomb squad was called in.

Shortly after 9-11, I was traveling home from San Diego to Pocatello along I-15. I stopped for gas and a restroom break. The waste basket in the bathroom had a moderately long, handwritten note in Arabic taped to it. The basket was on the floor and rotated to keep the note mostly out of plain view. It may well have been a "dead drop". Too bad. It was discarded in dumpster near Nephi, UT. Oops.

I doubt that the Attorney General and the FBI Director held a press conference solely based on this group and their "90%" ready to attack statement.

They must have other credible and corroborating intelligence pertaining to a terrorist attack that the publc does not know about.

A bomb technician with the ASP determined that the object appeared to be some type of electrical transformer was not an explosive device.

When I expressed my concerns to the mother, she too insisted that Minnesota was not a target, but that NYC and San Jose California (???? say what?) were.

This woman falls into the large majority of the country that former Sen. Gary Hart was talking about on Fox earlier tonight.

He's very concerned that most of middle America (by which he seemed to mean mid-westerners) think they are immune to terrorism.

He's focusing on his own state of Colorado, but it applies across the region.

Mall of America is a very tempting target, and I can remember even a year ago or more there was discussion of it, on earlier threads long before the Matrix started up.
