Sen. John McCain
(R-Ariz.) said he regrets choosing former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) to be his running mate during the 2008 presidential campaign.
The New York Times reported on Saturday that McCain, while still defending Palins performance, said in his upcoming book The Restless Wave that he wishes he had instead selected former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.)
His advisers reportedly had warned against choosing Lieberman, who was once a Democrat, stating that Liebermans support of abortion rights could divide Republicans.
It was sound advice that I could reason for myself, he writes. But my gut told me to ignore it and I wish I had.
In a new HBO documentary, McCain goes on to say that not choosing Lieberman was another mistake" that he made in his political career.
Lieberman told The Times that he didnt know McCain felt that way.
It touched me greatly, he said of the film.
The Times reported that Lieberman recently visited McCain, 81, at his ranch in Arizona where the senator is recovering from his brain cancer treatment and surgery for an infection.
Recently released excerpts from McCains upcoming memoir indicate that he doesnt know how much time he has left to live while battling the glioblastoma he was diagnosed with last year.
Although the memoir isnt entirely political, McCain still takes swings at Trump.
McCain writes that the president seems to care more about the appearance of toughness than American values, chiding Trump's coziness with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in particular.
The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations. will be released May 22.
I’m pretty sure Sarah already sensed this was how McCain felt about her candidacy. Nevertheless, Sarah was a huge gamechanger, and prepared the political world for The Donald.
She was a plus on the ticket. Always. The problem was the lame duck Bush White House, who assisted candidate Obama during the financial meltdown, but did nothing to assist Palin, who had to switch campaigns mid stream from “the surge is working” to dealing with the economic meltdown.
And it was a very very strange meltdown at that. One trade and the market crashed. Was it Soros? Was it Mitt? Was it a RINO DeepState personage?
And of course, the McCain staffers were former Jeb and W Bush people sabotaging Palin from within.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, these were truly treasonous acts against Palin.
The same DeepStateRINOBushes attacking Trump attacked Palin.
Lachrymose Joe Lieberman.... a proven loser from 2000, who couldn’t vote to impeach Clinton. Yeah that would have worked!
“The New York Times reported on Saturday that McCain, while still defending Palins performance, said in his upcoming book The Restless Wave that he wishes he had instead selected former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.)”
Oh thats cool. An NRA F-minus as a running mate. FU McJagoff.
September 15, 2008
McCain spoke and campaigned in Florida and said the “fundamentals of the economy are strong, when the financial crisis peaked”.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/15/mccain-mocked-for-saying-economy-still-strong/
He lost the election that day and probably after the second debate when he had no message because the GOP was tied to Bush II’s economy and foreign policy.
And millions regret voting for his crusty ass.
Dementia caused by brain cancer is horrible. Maybe if he had had American values the base would have supported him.
Thank you.
You couldn't get me to buy this slop at gunpoint. John McCain will go down in my book as a corrupt U.S. Senator and a failed presidential candidate -- that's it.
I prefer this epic best-seller:
I am calling it now....the day of McCain’s funeral, Trump will tweet something outrageous or the Administration will do something YUGE-and suck up all the airtime and the funeral will be the second or third story.
i donated to the McCain campaign the day after he chose Palin and i heard her talk...i wonder how much $$$ mclame ranked in due to his selection of Palin...
McCain is a thoroughly indecent and vile creature.
Hey McCain, I regret voting for you.
Just die already, you demented piece of traitorous trash. And make sure to fill his grave in with fresh manure. Like goes to like.
Why was this guy a Republican?
He meant September 11, 2008, the date of the very suspicious financial meltdown (was it Soros? or Mitt who pulled the trigger on the stock market that day?)
This odd and oddly dated financial meltdown caused Palin and McCain to scramble, because they were running on a campaign about how “the surge was working”.
We regret having him as a candidate.
This ass clown can’t expire fast enough.
