A new Rasmussen poll has found that First Lady Michelle Obama would be the strongest challenger to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton if she chose to run in 2016.
According to Rasmussen:
In a hypothetical matchup with Hillary Clinton, the putative Democratic presidential nominee in 2016, Obama earns 44% support from black voters to Clintons 36%.
Among Likely Democratic Voters, its Clinton 56%, Obama 22%. That appears to be a better showing against Clinton than Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, the only other announced Democratic presidential candidate, makes at this point.
Among all voters, Clinton earns 37% support to Obamas 17%. A sizable 40% prefer some other candidate.
The First Lady has consistently been one of the most popular political figures in the country since her husband was first elected president, so it isnt surprising that she polls so well. The First Lady would start the race with ten points more support than Elizabeth Warren. She would have three times more support than Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and blow any other Democrat out of the water.
However, even Mrs. Obama would trail former Sec. of State Clinton by more than thirty points. Michelle Obama has shown no interest in running for office, but the poll does illustrate the strength of Hillary Clinton.
Clinton is the strongest candidate in either party. She is not unbeatable, but she solidly has the vast majority of Democrats behind her. No matter what gets thrown her way, Democrats are committed to her candidacy in large numbers.
Only 14% of likely voters wanted Michelle Obama to run for president. Democrats are satisfied with Clinton in what is increasingly looking like a Hillary year.
Why not? Democrats never choose people by their ability.
Beast vs. Beast
Dang! hard to chose which side to pick =)
She’s the one I think whoever it is...Jarrett or 0bama...is clearing the boards for. I think the Dems are learning they won’t win without a black.
Too bad we don’t have a brilliant, Princeton & Harvard-educated Hispanic constitutionalist to run against her.
Challenger for What???? Stupidder award.
Who really LIKES this woman? She’s just such a b!@th. I don’t get how everyone doesn’t see that...
And they’ve figured out how much quicker they can get their agenda enacted with “black privilege.”
Maybe she just got a splinter from her broom. :)
Two First Heifers mooing and belching away.. I love it..
Can we have a shooters round at all the debates?
I’d put my dough on HIl. She knows her cattle and futures..
Hillary is not Michealle Obama.
Hillary is not an Obama third term.
There is no love lost between the Obamas and the Clintons.
Obamas election strategy has always been to take out the most effective (or only) opposition through leaks of scandals long before the actual campaign.
Most of the GOP elite seems to be for Hillary too... I guess she's been smart and worked out the arrangements with them already.
Hillary Clinton is a polarizing, calculating, disingenuous, insincere, ambitious, non-inevitable, seemingly entitled, over-confident, secretive person who will do anything to win, represents the past, and is out of touch.
Let me guess. Rasmussen polled the senior class at Vassar?
BITCH vs BEAST
Just goes to show you that the Democrats don’t have much of a “bench.”
Why did you only list her very best qualities?
I’m in agreement, if by “strongest” they’re referring to feminine odor.
