Will the latest news about Ted Cruz hurt his chances for the 2016 GOP nomination? Click to learn the betting odds for the junior Texas senator and other contenders for the Oval Office.
When Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was a teenager, he was caught doing teenage things, as revealed in documents obtained by BuzzFeed.
In his application to become Texas solicitor general, Cruz was required to list any prior convictions. That included one "guilty plea for minor in possession of alcohol."
Apparently when Cruz was a high school senior in 1987, authorities found an unopened case of beer in his vehicle. They gave him a ticket....

If it was Lone Star, he’s off my short list.
Bet he even convinced other kids to paint the fence for their bible verse slips too!
Cmon this is silly
Open case of beer.
Closed case of beer.
Cruz was charged with having a closed case of beer.
We would have to know the dates, but he may not have even been a minor in possession. By 1987 the drinking age in Texas was 21 (it was 18 when I was a senior in high school).
So he may have been an adult under the age of 21 with an unopened case of beer in the back of his car.
Clearly a career ending revelation.
Wow. Thank goodness he wasn’t fraternizing with Weather Underground terrorists.
LOL. At least he didn't Stroh up on the cop. And good thing he wasn't an Arrogant Bastard, otherwise he may have ended up with a Shiner.
Doesn’t matter. Bush was adult. Bush pulled off the road when he couldn’t drive. It was not consequential at all. It was on the same level as Bush being documented as having kissed a girl in first grade.
Heineken!?!?!! *^&% that ^&@!.....PABST BLUE RIBBON!
We do know however that his mama was a slut by old time descriptions and he was spermed by a SE Asian Muslim guru named Muhammed Subuh but had to go to Kenya for an official documented birth. Such is/are the evils that have been foisted on people for generations.
The drinking age in Texas was 18 when I graduated in 1979.
If I recall correctly, they increased it to 19 a couple of years later and then increased it to 21 a couple of years after that.
Should Texans have a recall election on him?? ?sarc
The dirt hunters and mud slingers have started a year early.
I lucked out I guess. The deputy just made me open and empty every can of a case of beer. Poured right into the ground, near a creek. Good thing the EPA wasn’t watching. Whew!
Maybe, but a conservative’s sealed records are never off limits to a democrat or RINO republican.
The point is that Nothing is minor. The content of the charge does not matter, only the intensity with which it is made. This one is a tiny trial balloon. It is too early to do the indignity song and dance but it is a warning of what is to come. If a conservative candidate can ignore these things and not react to or comment on them but continue being optimistic like Reagan and talk about the future rather than on how bad Obama has been, then the effect will be minimized. Just as surely as a candidate, Cruz maybe, stops to "explain" or protest or deny or apologize he is finished, no matter how trivial the charge. When the candidate reacts in any way then the voters begin to believe that the charges are serious, whatever their content. It is an exceedingly rare Republican who can refrain from reacting.
If this is the best they can do, I’d advise Mrs. Cruz to start drapery shopping for the family residence on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue while the January white sales are still here. Can we still say “white sale” these days?
Oh noes! Under aged with beer in Texas!
It was unopened? What the hell is wrong with that boy, you are supposed to drink it as soon as you get it.
GO TED CRUZ!
Tom Sawyer for Prez !!!
:halo turns on:
Wine on the other hand....
:halo tilts drunkenly over one eye:
