Breaking: Pope Leo’s Vatican asks Catholics to ‘esteem’ other faiths

The Vatican has asked Catholics to 'esteem' other faiths in its latest document on interreligious dialogue and 'fraternity.'

The Vatican has asked Catholics to ‘esteem’ other faiths in its latest document on interreligious dialogue and “fraternity.”

The document, signed by Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF); Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity; and Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, appeared this morning.

Entitled “A Journey of Hope: Sixty Years of Interreligious Dialogue and Fraternity in the Light of the Conciliar Declaration Nostra Aetate, the work discourages “proselytism,” that is, attempts to convert people of other religions.

“The defensive entrenchment in one’s own position and the view that proselytism is the only way to engage with the other no longer make sense in a world that increasingly resembles an interconnected and constantly evolving global village,” it states.

On the question of “Should we be saving souls?”, the Pope seems to think that it’s a pretty low priority.

The Ten Commandments, number ONE.

1. I, the Lord, am your God. You shall not have any other gods besides me.

There’s a group of Catholic priests and prelates who are interested in everything except Catholicism. Sadly, that group seems in control of the Vatican at the moment. May Christ solve this problem for the Church sooner rather than later.

. . . ‘esteem’ other faiths . . .

I think we all know which one he means. It isn't other brands of Christianity, Jews or Buddhists. Any guesses?

An older definition of “esteem” is to “appraise”, that is to set a value upon or to evaluate the worth of something.

OK.

Fine.

I have evaluated the worth of other “faiths”: I have weighed them in the balance and found them wanting.

Next!

Esteem is a funny thing. It has value only when it is reciprocated.
Otherwise, it is very counterproductive.

Christians who “esteem” Islam are seen as weak and contemptible by Muslims.

Anyone who doubts this should consider this fact. There is a huge mosque in Rome. But Christians aren’t even allowed to enter Mecca. The “esteem” is entirely a one-way street.

Why wouldn’t he esteem Catholics? His friends in China are killing Catholics but he does nothing about it and it’s happening elsewhere too.

I wonder what Fr Chad Ripperger has to say about this.

I’ll be happy to grant Islam the same level of esteem that Thomas Aquinas did:

In Summa contra Gentiles Book I, Chapter 6, Aquinas outlines several objections to Islam:

No supernatural signs – Aquinas argued Muhammad produced no miracles or “visible actions” that could only be divine, unlike Jesus. Instead, Muhammad claimed authority through military power: “Mohammed said that he was sent in the power of his arms – which are signs not lacking even to robbers and tyrants”
.
Spread by the sword – Aquinas contrasted Christianity’s early growth through witness and miracles with Islam’s expansion via conquest and coercion
.
Moral and doctrinal flaws – He accused Muhammad of appealing to “carnal men” with promises of sensual pleasure, mixing truth with “fables and doctrines of the greatest falsity”
.
Opposition to Scripture – Aquinas noted Muhammad’s prohibition of reading the Old and New Testaments, which he allegedly distorted, and concluded that faith in his words was “foolish”

It’s the globalist religious version of Obama’s manipulative, false, guilt-inducing, declaration to Americans “why are you so racist? stop being so racist.”
