Yes. The Pope is imposing a Spanish mistranslation on the Greek, reflecting his cultural bias. The Greek εἰσενέγκῃς from the root εἰσφέρω is correctly translated as "lead", and in no way, shape, or form should be translated "abandoned".

I have said almost those exact same words to him, to no avail.

I meant what I said, I still consider him as a good man, and a holy priest. I pray a special prayer for him each morning...

I’ve never heard any woman say that. Where are you getting this information?

One of the Gospels has this:

Do not put us to the final test,
But deliver us from the evil one.

I like this and say it that way when privately praying.

Since THIS prayer was given to us by Jesus Christ Himself, I will not alter original text.

Any Greek scholars in the house?

There have been Greek scholars in the house since the First Century. There is one holy catholic and apostolic Church. The gates of hell will not prevail against it.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians, Catholic chapter five, Protestant verses nineteen to twenty one
as authorized, but not authored, by King James

The church in Rome is praised in the scriptures. The Apostle Paul wrote that praise and an entire letter to the church in Rome.

Yes, I like that; lead us not into trial or testing and deliver us from the wicked.

“Do not abandon us to temptation but deliver us from evil.”

"Do not abandon us.." is very awkward (perhaps not so in Italian). How about "Save us from temptation and deliver us from evil"?

“Peace to people of good will” was always wrong.

“Peace to people with whom he is pleased”, although crypto-Calvinist, is closer to the mark.
