1 Timothy 2:5 ...one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
There is NO debate here: God's Word clearly points out who the mediator is between God and men: i.e., Christ Jesus
If you believe in God's Word, who is Christ Jesus: The Word of God, then 1 Timothy 2:5 will be easily be understood as Christ the mediator.
I was referencing the source of the bible verses I cited which you falsely asserted were not in the bible. St. Elizabeth greet the Blessed Virgin Mary "Blessed are you among women," and "mother of my Lord," and to whom Mary declared that "all ages shall call me blessed." How is it you do not recognize these allusions?
BEFORE Elizabeth could see or recognize Christ the Holy Spirit had to open her eyes ... The prophet John the Baptist was filled while in the womb of his mother
Yes, when Elizabeth HEARD THE VOICE OF MARY, John the Baptist leapt with joy in his mother's womb.
How do YOU know ALL other men were condemned? What is your source of that knowledge? God ALWAYS has a remnant according to grace
All men were condemned prior to the coming of Christ, for all have been born with original sin. Except one, she who was "filled with grace."
Mat 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Among those WHAT that are born of women? The unedited passage says THIS:
"But what went you out to see? A Prophet? Yea, I tell you, and more than a prophet! For this is he of whom the angel has written, 'Behold, I send my angel before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.' Amen, I say to you, there has not risen among them that are born of women a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is the least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than him."John was the greatest among prophets, but less than the least of the Kingdom of Heaven (for he died without being saved by Grace, although to those such as him did Christ preach to those in prison, and for whom the gates of Hell did not withstand. Mary, saved doubly by Grace through her immaculate Conception, and by receiving the blood of Christ, is not counted among those to whom Jesus referred. By your understanding, you would also have to presume that John the Baptist was greater than Peter, Paul, John the evangelist, James and the rest of the disciples, for they were also born of women by that time.
Art it is only fair to let ISCOOL know lots of folks call you "father" maybe he would give ya some space on that
and no one has ever supposed that one’s parent could not be called “father” per the commandment to honor one’s father and mother.
Just more pettifoggery.
Since Catholics are so big on claiming they obey the words of Christ above all, what about these ones? Or don't they count?
Matthew 5: 10-12 "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:43-48 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
lol. Rome wishes. Luther and Calvin and anyone with eyes to see could tell true worship from the idolatry practiced in Rome.
Luther, being a first-generation reformer, made giant strides against the lies of transubstantiation and thus he rightly denied that the Mass is a sacrifice:
"It is quite certain that Christ cannot be sacrificed over and above the one single time he sacrificed himself...Such daily sacrificing is the greatest blasphemy and abomination ever known on the earth."
Calvin, in the second wave of the Reformation, more accurately understood the Lord's Supper to be a memorial where Christ is truly present spiritually.
There is no ground...for any individual to charge us with holding that he is absent from us, and thus separating the head from the members...but, dwelling in us by his Spirit he raises us to heaven to himself, transfusing into us the vivifying vigour of his flesh... The Roman Mass suppresses and buries the cross and Passion of Christ... "Satan never raised up a stronger scheme than the Mass to fight against and strike down Jesus Christ's kingdom"..."(The Lord's Supper) is an aid to our faith related to the preaching of the gospel...an outward sign by which the Lord seals on our consciences the promises of his goodwill toward us in order to sustain the weakness of our faith; and we in turn attest our piety towards him in the presence of the Lord and of his angels and before men...
Here's a nice little website I came across this morning...
‘p43 1 - “Hail Mary, beloved daughter of the Father, Mother of the Divine Son, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, complement of the most august Trinity!” ‘
This is what Catholics are saying in plain English when they say that Mary is the *complement* of the Trinity.....
******************************************************************************************
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/complement
com·ple·ment
a : something that fills up, completes, or makes perfect
b : the quantity, number, or assortment required to make a thing complete *the usual complement of eyes and ears Francis Parkman*; especially : the whole force or personnel of a ship
c : one of two mutually completing parts : counterpart
***************************************************************************************
They are attributing godhood to her; equality with God, completing the Trinity and making it perfect,( since it obviously wasn’t until she came along.....)
They are also attributing to her all the characteristics of God. Notice that she’s the *mother* (think God the Father), the *daughter* (think God the Son), and *spouse of the Holy Spirit (think equal to the Holy Spirit), and then they go on to say that she “complements” the Trinity. Only a god could do that. It’s also stating that the Trinity isn’t good enough on its own.
So much blashphemy in so few words.
I find your stubborn faith in the existence of extraterrestrials to be quite an amusing comfort.
They are attributing godhood to her; equality with God, completing the Trinity and making it perfect,( since it obviously wasnt until she came along.....)
Pagan. They need to read the Bible and pray for the Holy Spirit to guide their understanding.
It's no small error to believe Christ was not 100% complete within Himself alone, and, being God, had no beginning or ending. Christ does not exist "by Mary." As Scripture teaches us, "all things" exist because of Christ. Mary included, just like the rest of us.
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." -- Colossians 1:6-17 "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
What? Have you never heard of The Kingdom of Mary?
Not so with the word of God. Those who do not believe it, like atheists, and those who do not understand it, like papists, reveal their lack of grace.
No small problem.
Where did I say they were not in the bible?? please show me.. I quoted the verse PROCEEDING the greeting of elizabeth ...Why was Mary called blessed by God among women ?? The question is how did Elizabeth know it??
Yes, when Elizabeth HEARD THE VOICE OF MARY, John the Baptist leapt with joy in his mother's womb.
Can you read scripture with UNDERSTANDING? It was NOT MARY that opened Elizabeths eyes . Mary had not one thing to do with Elizabeth's revelation . It was the presence of Christ herald by Mary's greeting ..
One more time
Luk 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
It was like ALL THINGS a work of God..NOT MARY it was His presence not hers
All men were condemned prior to the coming of Christ, for all have been born with original sin. Except one, she who was "filled with grace."
All men are still condemned today until they repent and believe in Christ as their Savior.. However to say that ALL men were consigned to hell ( as you imply) ,Abraham. Jacob .joseph, Moses David, etc... would be very surprised.. (read Hebrews 11)
There is not one infallible word written that says or implies mary was ever sinless... what she was, was faithful and obedient .... never said or implied sinless ..
John was the greatest among prophets,
And the scripture that says Mary is greater than the prophets is found where???
(for he died without being saved by Grace,
Really?? You know that how??? Hbr 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
ALL the old Testament Saints were saved by grace.. theOld testament God is the same as the new Testament God... His mercy and forbearance has never changed, neither has the means of His salvation.. We are saved by looking BACK at the cross in faith..THEY were saved looking FORWARD to the cross..
By your understanding, you would also have to presume that John the Baptist was greater than Peter, Paul, John the evangelist, James and the rest of the disciples, for they were also born of women by that time.
You know I had never really thought about it before.. but indeed John must be greater than them. Scripture is by its very nature written by prophets ( ones that speak for God), and if John was the greatest of prophets born of women.. then in Gods economy he must be greater
Or the cross of Mary.
The RC teaching of Mary's sinless life should be caution enough for anyone to dust the errors of Rome off their feet and head for a Scriptural understanding of life, men and God.
Can you read scripture with UNDERSTANDING? It was NOT MARY that opened Elizabeth's eyes. Mary had not one thing to do with Elizabeth's revelation. It was the presence of Christ herald by Mary's greeting.
AMEN!
They look to the creature for salvation when there is only one God and He is enough.
ALL the old Testament Saints were saved by grace.. the Old testament God is the same as the new Testament God...His mercy and forbearance has never changed, neither has the means of His salvation...We are saved by looking BACK at the cross in faith...THEY were saved looking FORWARD to the cross.
AMEN!
Like every other dishonest huckster you choose to change the subject when a collision with the truth would damage your position. The discussion was about the perpetual virginity of Mary, not on your flawed interpretation of idolatry.
I stated that while Luther and Zwingli were adamant about the perpetual virginity of Mary Calvin was conflicted. In Calvin's own words:
"This passage afforded the pretext for great disturbances, which were introduced into the Church, at a former period, by Helvidius. The inference he drew from it was, that Mary remained a virgin no longer than till her first birth, and that afterwards she had other children by her husband. Jerome, on the other hand, earnestly and copiously defended Marys perpetual virginity. Let us rest satisfied with this, that no just and well-grounded inference can be drawn from these words of the Evangelist, as to what took place after the birth of Christ."
Calvin was just as non-commital on the issue of the real presence. Although he disagreed with Luther and Zwingli on transubstantiation he never denied the spiritual presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
You can keep your pathetic anti-Catholic websites because the Catholic Church does not practice idolatry, as had been pointed out to you literally hundreds of times on these threads. You appear incapable of learning or modifying your flawed conclusions out of your irrational anti-Catholic hatred. To paraphrase a popular saying "there are none so stupid as those who will not learn".
The new Inquisition ???
"...and those who do not understand it, like papists"
And those who purposefully manipulate it for their for dishonest ends, like proddy heretics.
Given a choice between understanding Christ as our only Mediator between God and men, or believing in “other mediators” and “another Christ,” I will always side with the former, thankfully.
