Featured Term (selected at random):
Periods of time required by Church law between the various grades of sacred orders. Since the abolition of the subdiaconate in the Latin Rite, the main provision is for the three-month interval between the diaconate and the priesthood. This time may be, and generally is, extended, and for exceptional reasons may also be shortened by a bishop. (Etym. Latin inter-, between + stare, to stand: interstitium, interval, interstice; literally, space between.)

Catholic Word of the Day Ping!
Please send me a FReepmail if you would like to be on the Catholic Word of the Day Ping List.
It’s like having to be a Star Scout for six months before you can be a Life Scout, I suppose.
I’ve read of several men who were ordained priests almost immediately after being ordained transitional deacons because they were not expected to live through the usual period.
