Drug problems invariably lead to breaking the law. It is the nature of the addictiveness to drugs that one cannot get the quantities needed/wanted legally.

Such a good man who MAY have a problem deserves our support, not condemnation.

If we dropped every conservative or friend or relative who had a problem, we would have very few associates left.

I don't know any angels.

You may not have a skeleton in your closet, but your dossier may say that you do, even just the bare bones of such could be a problem.

And to get high.

The timeline indicates he's been at this for 4 yrs or longer. This man needs therapy for whatever demons he has that can't be assuaged by fame, fortune and adulation.

A public crackup is not a pretty sight, and I'd hope he'd swallow his pride and get that help he needs.

It's time for society to quit attaching a stigma to certain substances.

Will they make the Sun illegal? I suffer from acute Seasonal Affected Depression. When I lived up north for awhile I had horrible depression during the late fall/winter months due to the lack of sunlight. I didn't understand why until I saw a program about Seasonal Affected Depression (SAD). Once I found out the cause of my depression, I made a beeline for South Florida. BTW, the flip side of this is that being up north during the summer months makes me absolutely giddy because of all the sunlight late into the day.

p.s. Kitty Dukakis also suffers from SAD.

If the stories are true and he denies it, he will enrage the prosecutors and open himself up to a perjury rap. Rush should follow his laywer's advice and keep quiet until he knows what the authorities have on him. And it also give his investigators time to dig up dirt on his accusers.

OCTOBER 3--Meet Louis Beshara and his wife, Gloria Rodriguez. The Florida couple are at the heart of the drug scandal now enveloping radio superstar Rush Limbaugh. Investigators allege that the duo illegally sold hundreds of thousands of prescription painkillers from a Palm Beach-area pharmacy they owned. According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's search warrant affidavit, Beshara provided Hydrocodone, the powerful and addictive painkiller, to middlemen drug dealers like Joseph Coppola who then resold the pills to users. It has been reported that Limbaugh scored some of the Beshara pills via Wilma Cline, a former maid at the radio star's West Palm Beach mansion. Beshara and Rodriguez, who each face two felony drug trafficking charges, are free on bail, though Beshara is under house arrest. (8 pages)

I meant it as someone who is a mindless drug supporter.

And yes, there's a big problem with using incorrect medication that will only make things worse in the long run. Self medication isn't funny, it's not cool. It's a real bad problem.

I say this from experience, having interviewed many that are guilty and lying.......
Very simple, if he was innocent and not involved, he would simply say so.......
This could damage this guy beyond repair......

In my experience, those guilty make broad statements (pun intended) like "I did not have sex with that woman."

Those who haven't been through the system, or spent a career lawyered-up to the hilt, tend to follow the initial, logical attorney advice of "don't comment."

As for the Palm Beach "name came up in an investigation" or "part of an investigation" stuff (as reported in the AP story as having been confirmed by CNN, that was later denied by CNN, and which I've lost track to know where that status is now): Rush's name may be on an investigation roster simply because of his prior connection to that housekeeper.

I remember a time when Rush's caller were saying he sounded drunk on air. I thought he did too. It was only one time but I think it is possible that Rush has been using and let it get out of control. It may be that the truth is in the middle someplace. Rush used Oxycoten but it wasn't an uncontrollable addiction. I'll wait till Rush is ready to explain it.

In the end this story means very little to politics.

Apparently, the police/FBI aren't convinced. No charges, yet. She supposedly had a wiretap . . . then said he patted her down so she couldn't wear a wire (hmmm?). The lawyers here are all correct. Regardless of how reasonable and sensible it would be to issue a blanket denial, in 21st century America, you simply cannot do that.

I have a colleague who works in high profile civil-litigation (tobacco-type) suits, and does "expert" testimony. Talking is the WORST thing you can do. For depositions, you are instructed to answer in single words, if possible. NEVER elaborate, lest a single word be turned on you. So while to an untrained legal ear it does look suspicious, I can see where his attorney said, "If you say one word about this substantively, I'm outta here."

You're right. He has too options if the allegation are true (at least if he wants to have any crediblity). Admit it accept the full legal consequences and/or come out full blast for legalization.

What is he supposed to do, just quit?

Yeah, it would have been better, from a political sense, to just open up today and lay it all out. But given potential legal jeopardy, that may be very unwise, and even more damaging.

Meanwhile, the show must go on. Why given in to the Dems and just drop his message, quit his job? His analysis of politics is just as true(or not) today as it was last week, so until we quit listening or his affiliates drop him, he should continue to do his show.

Um, whatever your thoughts, please don't imply that I have formed a judgement or conclusion. Until I heard his remarks this morning I was inclined to believe the charges. Then I start reading about this couple and I then offered my impression of Rush's comments.

No more, no less.

To me he sounded like he wanted so badly to say more and offer a denial---that is how he sounded to me, but is following Black's advice.

By set-up I certainly was not saying that if he was lured to purchase drugs illegally he would therefore not be guilty. Nonsense...if he engaged in illegal behavior I expect him to face the music. By set-up I mean that *perhaps* his taking of legally prescribed drugs has been manipulated somehow to implicate him in this former maid's activities. I have no idea if that would be the case. But he did not sound guilty to me, contrary to others' impressions. I am keeping an open mind and won't deny any culpability he may have if the evidence is produced that demonstrates it. As I said, until I heard him speak I was leaning towards the story having substance.

They can lead to it, but not always. I'm not suggesting we further criminalize intoxication, at least when it comes to legal substances. But if laws are broken, I don't care about the rest. You do the crime, you do the time. And, BTW, no, I don't have any sympathy for drug abusers. No one held a gun to their heads to make them abuse whatever they're abusing.

Gatun, Rush never announced he was going to comment on the case today. So you DO have only yourself to blame.

I doubt that Rush has more details to comment on than we do. The Florida law enforcement chaps are still investigating. You can be sure they're not going to tell Rush anything at this time lest they be accused of favoring him or harming any potential case. When LE clams up, they REALLY clam up.

So why should Rush say anything when there's nothing to say yet. I know we all hoped for juicy details today, but I'm sticking with Rush's judgement to wait.

For the cubicles, Rush sounds strong, confident, and HE'S FIGHTING BACK ON THE ESPN disgrace.

As for the boo-birds here claiming he's "slurring" his words, this is just outrageous. What, one word? Two words? The man is stone DEAF, for crying out loud. I'm sure a slurred word creeps in once in a blue moon since he's had to re-train his speech since his implant.

Has anyone seen that big electronic mechanism he has to wear now on or behind his ear. The wire or whatever it was had to be attached by drilling into his skull! Shame to those who are trying to impute that an occasional, almost undectable word bobble shows he's a drug addict.

If the story is totally false why the play with words. Just say, "Folks, there is nothing to to story"
