So while to an untrained legal ear it does look suspicious, I can see where his attorney said, "If you say one word about this substantively, I'm outta here."If the story is totally false why the play with words. Just say, "Folks, there is nothing to to story"

Again, all I can go by is what lawyers say, and even if you say, "there's nothing to the story," that can be manipulated even if you are innocent. I've seen these lawyers in action. You do a Sgt. Schultz: "I say Nooooothink."
